Actually, my personal opinion was GW Bush's presidency was defined by airplanes crashing into buildings. And, I do believe George W. Bush's response was correct. I also do question if our response to the first World Trade Center bombings in 1993 were "adequate".

However, that is now history and neither the events nor our response can be changed. We can change our path in the future.

Unless you are running a surplus as opposed to a deficit then debt will always go up as you need to borrow the difference plus the interest on it. Debt isnt an issue as long as you can service it, the deficit is the main issue when it spirals out of control.
