Just like I said from the start- his future is in right wing 'think tanks'. Bye Rafael, it wasn't even interesting knowing you.

He's a Senator. They don't have districts, they have states.Originally Posted by Boon Mee

Ted Cruz gave a long speech (not a filibuster) that had nothing to do with anything, and had zero effect on any procedure in the Senate - it's not like they had to call a special session when he managed to talk past a deadline for the bill to be passed or anything.Originally Posted by Boon Mee

Cruz is flaming out.
Don't think so. If anything, he's inflamed the silent majority who don't like, want or have anything to do with Obamacare.
W/regard to his 'District' in Texas, the Democrats would have to provide a viable candidate that could defeat 'ol Ted and that doesn't look likely at this point. Senators are elected for terms of 6 years. 'Ol Ted has 5+ years to go to get stuff done in Washington!

The silent majority that elected and reelected Obama even after the passage of the ACA? Right...Originally Posted by Boon Mee
That was then and this is now - ever heard that expression there snubbles.
Latest Gallop Poll shows >52% of Americans don't want Obamacare. Then there's a recent USA Today poll shows that 42 percent of Americans approve of the law, while 53 percent disapprove of it.
As the bad news continues to filter out those numbers are going to climb astronomically...

Well I added a related story here but someone deleted it. All it said was there was a lot of heated arguments and in fighting by the GOP on the senate floor mostly started by Cruz. The conclusion you can get from the deleted material is Cruz is a GOP creation out of control. His mind comes from Fox News and every warped idea pushed by the right wing over the past 30 years. He is the GOP's own Frankstein.
It's the vocal minority plain and simple. All loudly, with the aid of media, attempting to push a political agenda. The same agenda harped upon since Obama was first elected. Quote Mitch McConnell back in 2011,“The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president,”. They failed. Obama is still Prez. Ted Cruz is not going to change that and he is doing nothing to enhance GOP chances in next Presidential election. No doubt Cruz doesn't need to worry about reelection. His district doesn't come close to representing a cross section of the US. Cruz is doing exactly what his constituents want him to do.Originally Posted by Boon Mee
Want to get rid of the partizenship which is making the US Congress the laughing stock of the world? Take a hard look at the congressional districts and change so politicians represent a more diverse constituency. Redistricting (gerrymandering) over the last several years has reached the point where congress will always be at odds to the point of non function. Not a shot at GOP only. Dems are guilty of gerrymandering as well. The party that appeals to national majority will win Presidency, those appealing to state majority will win Senate and those appealing to Congressional district majority will win Congressional seats. Nothing new here. There will be a GOP President when GOP modifies it's platform to appeal to majority. All Cruz is doing is hindering GOP chances of doing so.
Ted Cruz holding public office is the inevitable result of the GOP courting the vote of gullible nitwits. He is the Glenn Beck of the Senate except instead of selling worthless gold "investments" and apocalypse ready food packs he is selling Ted Cruz.
You know, it's not hard to understand you Progressive's disdain for 'ol Ted because he's shaking up the same-o, same-o politics as usual in Washington.
He wouldn't have the popularity he has if not for that niggly little fact that Obamacare is >50% unpopular with the American public. That number depends on which Poll you're referencing whether it's Gallop etc.
Rock on, Ted!

the left loves rafa cruz....not only is it fun to laugh at his 21 hour talks that don't delay senate business for even 1 minute, but he's also the cause of so much internal GOP conflict. this past week has been great for watching republican on republican violence. maybe the best i've seen since the 90s when newt gingrich foolishly shutdown the govt.
the left couldn't have asked for much better than rafa cruz.
does he have a brother? if so, let's get him elected too.
btw, does anyone else find it amusing that the teabaggers are rallying around princeton/harvard educated guy who has next to no private sector experience and is married to a woman who works for goldman sachs?
viva rafa cruz!

He may be using his Anglo name for political gain, but Ray - have a Spanish name does not mean a person cannot be a conservative.
I am sure you agree with this.
Funny how people change names or make name choices to do better in the US. Is it the same in Europe I wonder. Maybe Ted is just trying to protect his father's good name by using his nickname, Ted. But why did he have to shorten that, too. He should just go with his full nickname, Tedious.
rafa likely uses his middle name in an attempt to disguise or minimize his hispanic heritage.....but hey, that's his business.Originally Posted by youneverknow

"Stand with Rand" at least makes sense. But "Lose with Cruz"?
PPP's newest national poll finds Ted Cruz is now the top choice of Republican primary voters to be their candidate for President in 2016. He leads the way with 20% to 17% for Rand Paul, 14% for Chris Christie, 11% for Jeb Bush, 10% each for Marco Rubio and Paul Ryan, 4% for Bobby Jindal, and 3% each for Rick Santorum and Scott Walker.
Cruz is leading the GOP field based especially on his appeal to 'very conservative' primary voters
Our numbers also suggest that Cruz is now viewed more broadly as the leader of the Republican Party.
