The biggest take away she had was all the staff, meds blood it took to only have him die. She said there are people who need true care but get set aside to care for people who shoot people and take up ER space but as she said, I am here to provide care to all no matter what has happened

Lego demands US company Culper Precision stop producing Glock pistol covering that looks like a toy

    The 'Americans Getting Shot' Thread-lego-demands-us-company-stop-producing

A US gun maker has caused controversy by selling a kit that makes a real Glock pistol look like a children's Lego toy.

    Key points:
    • The pistol covering was described as a "childhood dream come to life" in an advertisement
    • The company has complied with Lego's cease and desist letter, saying it sold fewer than 20 of the items
    • US gun control activists say 165 people died in accidental shootings by children in 2021

Lego has sent Utah-based company Culper Precision a demand to stop producing the red, blue and yellow covering for handguns.
"Our organisation reached out to Lego, which then sent a cease and desist letter to the reckless gun maker," said Shannon Watts, founder of the group Moms Demand Action, which advocates for stricter gun controls.

The colourful brick design gives the semi-automatic weapon a strong resemblance to a Lego toy.

The gun maker had been marketing it as a "Block19", selling for between $US549 and $US765.

"Here's one of those childhood dreams come to life," said Culper Precision in an advert for the gun on Instagram posted on June 24.

"Guns are fun. Shooting is fun. 30 rounds full auto is fun," the company said on its website.

CHICAGO -- A woman charged with fatally shooting her 12-year-old son Saturday at her home in the South Chicago neighborhood was ordered held without bail Sunday.

Fallon Harris, 37, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her son in the 8000 block of South Bennett Avenue, officials said.

Harris confronted the boy about 10:15 Saturday morning about the whereabouts of a digital memory card she had removed from her vehicle the previous night, according to Cook County State's Attorney Eugene Wood.

After he was unable to produce the memory card when his mother demanded it at gunpoint, she shot him, Wood said Sunday during Harris' initial court appearance.

A witness found the boy unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head about 10:30 a.m., police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Minneapolis police officer Mohamed Noor's murder verdict reversed over Justine Damond Ruszczyk's death

The Minnesota Supreme Court has reversed the third-degree murder conviction of a former Minneapolis police officer who fatally shot an Australian woman in 2017, saying the charge doesn't fit the circumstances in the case.

    Key points:
    • In 2019 former police officer Mohamed Noor was sentenced to 12 and a half years for murder but not sentenced for manslaughter
    • The ruling means his murder conviction is overturned and the case will now go back to the district court, where he will be sentenced on the manslaughter count
    • Noor's appeal was closely watched for its possible impact on three other former Minneapolis officers awaiting trial in George Floyd's death

Mohamed Noor sentenced to 12-and-a-half years' jail for murder of Justine Damond Ruszczyk

Former US police officer Mohamed Noor has been sentenced to 12-and-a-half years' jail for fatally shooting Australian woman Justine Damond Ruszczyk through the side of his police car.

Noor was convicted of third degree murder and second degree manslaughter for killing Ms Damond Ruszczyk just minutes after she called 911 to report a possible sexual assault in the alley behind her Minneapolis home in July 2017.

Judge Kathryn Quaintance said the jury members who convicted Noor had asked when the US police culture would change.
"Will there be changes? Change is needed," she said.

"Will some of the supervising officers be fired? Why should a civilian be afraid of approaching a squad car? What about the motto on the car to serve with compassion?"

Judge Quaintance also dismissed a defence motion to acquit Noor and set aside the jury verdict.

Mohamed Noor, ex-Minneapolis police officer, resentenced to 57 months for killing 911 caller

A judge on Thursday sentenced former Minneapolis police officer Mohamed Noor to 57 months behind bars, the maximum penalty possible, for fatally shooting a 911 caller in 2017.
Noor had been convicted of third-degree murder for the slaying of Justine Ruszczyk Damond on July 15, 2017 and sentenced to 12 1/2 years behind bars, before the state Supreme Court tossed that charge last month.
That left his conviction for second-degree manslaughter as the top conviction, leading to Thursday's new sentencing hearing.
