New Kids on the Political Block

GOP or Dem, add a post with a short bio.

I am impressed with Mia Love, the Black GOP mayor of Saratoga Springs, UT, who is running for Congress. She gave a rousing speech at the RNC last night.

Sadly, after her RNC speech last night, her Wiki page was trashed by bully thugs:

Didn't see this when I posted the same in the Convention thread, Minnie. Yes, it's downright over the top what these Democrats and the Lamestream Media are attempting to do but the truth will out.

Another example of You Don't Need a Weatherman To See Which Way The Wind Blows: Hillary Clinton to Flee the Country During DNC.

See might not be one of the new kids you're referring to but she's still smart enough to bail now.

    ^^

    Minni,

As usual, the parties trot out the token. Speeches, abstract 'rah-rah.' Every convention turns out these "new" used car sale people.

Mia Love Rocks GOP Convention, MSNBC Ignores.

Paying attention to her would spoil the narrative for the Lamestream Media and yourself, eh?

Aww, wonder where the mayor gets his money...

Ryan is Roman Catholic and was for a time a devotee of the libertarian author Ayn Rand.
I could overlook the Catholic bit but anyone who has ever considered Ayn Rand anything other than laughably awful should not be considered fit for public office.

I don't follow the MSM in general but I did turn on the TV again this morning to get the CNN soundbite from Wolf Blitzer and Gergen. (CNN is all I can get here.)

Ryan speech sounded good (erm the 'tear?'....puulleeaase).

In the end it's a convention speech by politicians who need the bump, be it Mia or Ryan.

As I've said, I'll vote Libertarian again, but obviously know it will either be Obama or Romney.

I still am on the fence and not sure which I'd rather have.

New kid on the block Mario Rubio may yet turn into someone, now that the ridiculous rumors of him being a VP candidate have been firmly put to bed. He's pretty, Latino, and speaks well- three things that the GOP desperately needs. He needs to politely distance himself from the rabid teabaggers though, because their mandate is political suicide for someone seeking high office.

'Rabid Teabaggers'? Just what has the Tea Party done that constitutes a description such as that? Support of the Constitution?

Routinely confusing the Constitution with the Bill of Rights more like it.

You can't fail to have noticed the dearth of teabaggers in the Romney Campaign, and the total lack of the T word at the GOP conference- but perhaps you have failed to wonder why. The Tea Party is anathema to much of the middle ground that will determine this election.

you are so easily impressed,.her star has faded

Mia Love conceded in a hotly contested congressional race against incumbent Rep. Jim Matheson (D) in Utah's 2nd congressional district.

As have so many other poorly chosen tea bag candidates. But even the incoming new republicans taking the place of retiring guys are much more conservative. Going to be a hard hill to climb to reach any reconciliation. Sure hope something can be done.

I thought this was worth a plug. Note that, this Bush is a "hispanic." According to the media. His mom is Latin and daddy Jeb Bush. It should not matter, but oh, it does. It's obvious from his actions that he plans to attempt to enter politics. Fair enough. Gee, I wonder if his last name had anything to do with this?

'Next Bush' makes campaign filing in Texas

    Nov 9, 2012

    By SCHUYLER DIXON

DALLAS (AP) - George P. Bush, a nephew of former President George W. Bush and son of one-time Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, has made a campaign filing in Texas that is required of candidates planning to run for state office, an official said Thursday night.

The younger Bush, a Fort Worth resident, filed a campaign treasurer appointment Wednesday, a requirement for someone to become a candidate under campaign finance law, Tim Sorrells, general counsel for the Texas Ethics Commission, told The Associated Press.

Sorrells said the report does not specify what office Bush might seek, if any, and he had no other details on the filing, which wasn't available online. Bush did not immediately reply to an email seeking comment, and no phone listing for him could be found.

The 36-year-old said in September his goal was to run for office and acknowledged that he had his eyes on several statewide offices.

Raised in Florida, Bush decided to settle in Texas, home to his uncle and his grandfather, former President George H.W. Bush. He runs a consulting firm and has been active in Republican Party outreach to college students. He's also the co-founder of Hispanic Republicans of Texas, a group that seeks to elect Hispanic candidates.

Ana Navarro, who was the national Hispanic co-chairwoman for John McCain when he ran for president in 2008, tweeted her enthusiasm Thursday.

"Wrote check for my friend, (at)georgepbush newly formed exploratory committee for office in TX. Young, pragmatic, Hispanic, just what GOP needs," Navarro's tweet read.

Bush and his wife, Amanda, met while attending law school at the University of Texas at Austin. After working as a lawyer, Bush became a partner in a real estate investment firm. He has started his second company, St. Augustine Partners, a business consulting firm aimed at small- and medium-market energy industries.
Bush also has Navy service on his resume, including a six-month deployment to Afghanistan, where, for security purposes, he was given a different name. Not even those he was serving alongside knew he was a Bush.
