    Sen Ted Kennedy to Hospital

BOSTON (AP) — Sen. Edward Kennedy, who has been in treatment for brain cancer, was taken by ambulance to a hospital near his Cape Cod vacation home Friday after complaining of feeling ill.
A 911 call from the Kennedy compound in Hyannis Port came around 5 p.m. Friday, said Barnstable police Sgt. Ben Baxter. Kennedy was taken to Cape Cod Hospital and was "alert and responsive" during the trip, Baxter said.
Representatives for Kennedy and the hospital did not immediately return calls for comment.
Kennedy had a seizure in May and underwent surgery in June for a malignant brain tumor. After undergoing six weeks of chemotherapy and radiation treatment, he has been steadily increasing his public activity.
The Associated Press: Sen. Kennedy taken to hospital from Cape Cod home

Never liked his policies (support the poor by raising taxes, while he sails his million-dollar yachts around Cape Cod), never trusted him since the Chappaquiddick horrow show, and think he's a hypocrite. Still believe he used to go to work drunk.
Do you think his name carried him all these years thru office? Did he do great things? OK, he did cross the aisle to pass some bills, but...what's his legacy gonna be when he passes?

    Sen. Kennedy released from hospital

BOSTON (Reuters) - Ailing Sen. Edward Kennedy, a liberal giant and patriarch of America's most storied political family, was examined and released from a Massachusetts hospital on Friday after suffering a mild seizure, officials said.

"Senator Kennedy experienced a mild seizure at home in Hyannis Port today and was taken to Cape Cod Hospital for examination," said a statement from the office of the 76-year-old Massachusetts Democrat, who was diagnosed with brain cancer in May.

"Doctors believe the incident was triggered by a change in medication. Senator Kennedy will return home tonight and looks forward to watching the debate," the statement added, referring to the presidential candidates' debate between Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama on Friday night.

it certainly got him into office --and helped him remain there after Chappaquiddick.

now a couple of our resident oldies like blackgang and jet might want to harken back to henry clay or robert taft....but few would argue that kennedy was/is the most effective and important senator of the post vietnam era.

If all three of my brothers died violently serving their country and my only sister was rendered a vegetable through medical malpractice, I'd probably hit the bottle too. Most people don't know that Ted Kennedy also had a sister, Rosemary, who spent most of her life in a vegetative state after being given a lobotomy in 1941. Rosemary previously had some behavioral issues but was of normal intelligence until then. She finally died in 2005. Ted Kennedy essentially lost all four of his siblings tragically. I'd be an alcoholic or worse if all of that happened to me. I don't like his politics but he has every right to be a drunk.

1 died in service of his country and 2 died from being shot while doing the Lawyer thing and fucking the people.
Teddy has been drunk for years, was drunk when he killed that young girl in his car at Chappaquiddick and showed up the next day still drunk.
His family is no great heroic clan, they made a fortune running Scots Whiskey and Chinese illegals into the USA during Prohibition and reaped a cut of the duty even after the end of the Big Booze Ban in the country and were actually a Mafia family.
And there is talk of John and Robert having had M.M. loaded with barbiturates and and dumped the night of her supposed suicide, they were and are no great shakes as a hero family to most people in the USA today.
Drinking and being a drunk have nothing to do with family tragedy's other than an excuse to be the drunk, so you can come off of that shit, you sound like RC now making excuses for your hero's to be scum while looking for small shit to lay on others.

What an exceptionally unpleasant gang of people you are. Whenever it seems that TD might be worth reading you folks climb up out of the drains and debase the place.

The Patriarch of the Kennedy fortune was indeed a Bootlegger. So what? The Patriarch of the Bush fortune illegally provided banking services to the Nazi's. So what?

JF Kennedy is still widely seen as the most inspirational leader of our generation- his life was cut tragically short. I wish the "Boo Hoo, Everyone hates America" brigade had been around to see the tears throughout the western world when he was assassinated.

Ted Kennedy certainly has Chippaquidick in his past- but he has also gone on to become one of the longest serving, and prominent Senators in US history. Shame on you that take cheap pot shots at the guy, now that he is battling an inoperable brain tumour. John McCain, for all his limitations, is a basically honourable guy who would not stoop to this- I like to think that he would be ashamed to count you amongst his supporters.

^ True on all counts, Sabang. McCain has class and shows respect where it is due. However, as a focus of TD debate, all things are considered, as we know well here from many of our liberal comrades here. As a conservative, I should know better than to stoop so low, but after seeing so many of the snide comments here, one wants to fight back in kind.
