My hero just got up my nose! Clarkson does it again.

    http://ca.news.yahoo.com/union-calls...155615102.html

LONDON - A British trade union is denouncing a low blow from the host of the popular TV show "Top Gear."
The UNISON union Thursday demanded the BBC fire Jeremy Clarkson after the opinionated TV presenter said striking public sector workers should be shot.
Clarkson apologized Thursday afternoon, saying he had not meant anyone to take him seriously when he said strikers who had participated in Britain's largest public sector walkout in 30 years Wednesday should be executed "in front of their families."
"I'd have them all shot," Clarkson said on BBC television's "One Show" on Wednesday. "I mean, how dare they go on strike when they've got these gilt-edged pensions that are going to be guaranteed while the rest of us have to work for a living?"
The BBC apologized for the remarks Thursday and said it had received around 4,700 complaints.
And Clarkson said he was sorry — sort of.
"I didn't for a moment intend these remarks to be taken seriously — as I believe is clear if they're seen in context," he said. "If the BBC and I have caused any offence, I'm quite happy to apologize for it alongside them."
UNISON, which represents more than one million public sector workers, said Clarkson should be fired immediately. It said it was seeking legal advice and considering referring the comments to police.
The union's general secretary, Dave Prentis, said Clarkson's comments "were totally outrageous, and they cannot be tolerated."
The furor even drew a response from Prime Minister David Cameron, who branded the comments "silly."
"It was obviously a silly thing to say and I am sure he didn't mean that," Cameron — a friend of Clarkson — told ITV television.
The BBC in the past has fielded complaints over irreverent quips by Clarkson, one of the hosts of the popular car show, which is broadcast in more than 100 countries.
Clarkson's jokey machismo and gibes about environmentalists, cyclists and the perceived forces of political correctness are part of the show's formula for success, but have landed "Top Gear" in trouble before.
The BBC fielded complaints after Clarkson made a joke linking truck drivers with prostitute murders and when he described former Prime Minister Gordon Brown as a "one-eyed Scottish idiot."
Earlier this year the BBC apologized to Mexico's ambassador after Clarkson and his co-hosts described Mexicans as lazy and oafish.

You said it Nigel and Jan , I laugh my knickers off at some of their antics, but he should stick to his comments about silly stuff and not show his ignorance of the complex world around him.

He of all people with his guilt edged contract at the Beeb needs to shut up about your average Joe who can never live the fantasy live style of a TV presenter!

It is in every newspaper back home even His personal friend, the PM of England is making excuses for him! Stupid selfish prat!

How to make a mountain out of a mole-hill !? Clarkson is basically a comic who knows a bit about motors. I remember a few years ago when he stated that all motorcyclists should be 'shot in the face' - caused uproar for about 10 minutes and was soon forgotten. His defence against the Gordon Brown tirade was he's Scottish, only has one eye and he's an idiot - so what did he say that was so wrong? The man's a loudmouth but entitled to his opinion.
Four and a half thousand complaints ...... some people got too much time on their hands.

Exactly mate ,,another twat from la la land never done a days work , born with silver spoons in their gobs.

Just seen the twat Clarkson on the news , backpedalling a fast as he can ,, apologising .

The bit that did make me larf was when Clarkson said the public sector workers had guilt edged pensions ,, I aint well up on what they get but I have heard figures of around 5k per year ,, guilt edged ? WTF £95 per week . Clarkson would have the BBC spend more than that on a taxi fare getting him to the studio

He spends more on a car than many of his millions of viewers make in 10 years. Just another example of someone who gets paid a lot to sing songs, kick a ball, or live their lives in front of a camera, thinking that they are something very special.

Clarkson has some talent, but so had Charlie Sheen. Comics come and go, so do embarrassments. Such a pity, what a stuck up, I've made it, so why can't you attitude.

even if that's all it is , it's £95 more than a private sector workers gets for doing a similar job
ie sitting on there fat arses all day ,
I bet half the public workers are just paperclip coordinator backroom staff.

Regan sacked the USA air traffic controllers when they got greedy and striked.

    .
Does the private sector worker pay into a pension scheme? Most I know dont. They spend their far superior earnings differently. Of the ones I know, they have stock investment or property portfolio`s. Thats their pension scheme.

    The public sector office workers used to get paid less, that for a similar role in the private sector, but made up for that by a nice pension and job security ;
now they get paid more too .

These are the same idiots that voted labour , not once but 3 times ,they were more than happy to see mass immigration ,and private sector wages plummet.
    It was jobs for votes.
they sold the country down the river for thier fat salary.
Most of them do nothing , they are basically unemployed on extra high rate benefit.
the country cannot afford them ,

Thats very true. You trade off a lower wage for financial security in your old age. Those are the choices they made, and have to live by them, but now the are being told, hang on a minute, we`re altering the deal. You can still have your lower paid job with your pension, but, your going to have to work longer, pay more, and receive less.

I totally disagree with you there Blue. The only ones I can think of who are getting less, are the unskilled labour. I know people In the private sector are earning less than 4-5 years ago. Back then, they were earning crazy money, and couldnt spend it quick enough. I could rant on about how tube, and train drivers, building trades etc etc, get paid more than me, and how a bin man gets almost as much as I, but, tbh I dont really give a shit, as im relatively happy with my job. You want me to pay more into my pension (15%), thats ok, i`ll accept that. You want me to take a career average, OK, I will, as it seems quite a fair request. You want me to work longer, and receive less. Well, you can fuck right off, and I`ll fight all the way to try and prevent that. If I could take my skills into the private sector, I might give it some serious consideration. However, that is not possible (yet).

Not all public sector workers are raving reds. Granted, there are a lot, but many are waking up to the fact, that they all piss in the same pot, and none are worthy of a vote.

Im not sure who your referring to there. Im guessing you mean councillors and the like. If thats the case, I tend to agree with you.

You have still not figured it out yet blue have you? Who the bad guys are? So in the last 30 years, who has gotten richer the working stiffs or the likes of Clarkson? The world wealth in most Western Countries has increased many fold, it is the distribution of that wealth that has changed. The middle classes have been squeezed out and the wealth has not gone to the working stiff it has increasingly gone to the most advantaged.

So in a world that has been destroyed by corporate greed and the corruptness of the monitory elite you still scream and shout at the red herring of the great red menace!

Grow up and wipe the frigging dung from your eyes, you have been hoodwinked. The wealth of the globe has gone where? Do all these Union Reds have big bank accounts? The wealth is in the hands of the few, the 1%. COme on who brought about this frigging collapse the wage demands of the workers of the land? So the morons who destroyed my financial future and millions of others still pull in the millions in bonus money and tell the unwashed to tough it out.

God you are so dated. I honestly didn't believe that people believed this old propaganda crap. I suppose you think that the 300bht a day wage will destroy the Thai economy as well.

Clarkson is provocative that's what he does. Maybe the bulk of the population agree with his sentiments, if not his proposed method.

It is refreshing for someone to call a bad car, bad. US car reviewers all skate around trying not to upset the advertisers.

Clarkson has worked his way up to where he is now working at the Rotherham advertiser if i'm not mistaken. He hasn't been handed his success with a silver spoon like so many.

Liberties and freedom of speech are being ripped before us. And when you moaning bitches will be begging for forgiveness from your masters via tax or any other form, then you'll really have something to moan about.

Agree with all but the last thought.
Even the Clarksons of the world need to be aware that making statements like lining Teachers and Nurses up in front of their families to watch them being shot is crap. That is nothing about being politically correct, it is about a stupid, hateful and self opinionated oaf thinking he is above his station. Just who the hell does he think he is! a 2 O level wonderboy who talks about cars has the right to put down the majority of the people who pay his inflated bloody salary.

Some good points and well made , and before anyone starts rantin on about trade union leaders , whether you agree with em or not they would be failing in their job miserably if they wer'nt tackling these probs head on.
Cameron and his cronies sitting in Westminster with their " protected gilt pensions " paid for by us are sharing NO pain . I doubt he will be seen walking round Aldi's on the 24th dec at 4pm looking for a cut price turkey.

Clarkson is right to be aggrieved.

The majority of the public sector are worthless in their current form. The UK only needs around 2 million of the 7 million public sector workers; the rest are just sucking money from the state and are the cause of the UK's massive debt and underperformance. These 5 million or so jobs should be privatised where there would actually have to perform to keep their jobs and earn their bonuses/pay rises like normal people do.

I'm not blaming the people who have these jobs, it's the result of the last useless (as always) Labour government who succeeded in turning the UK into the largest communist country in the world and making sure it can't afford to pay for itself.

Yet another reason why Blair et al, should be hung, drawn and quartered.

Thats the way forward ( edit sorry forgot I dissagree " bollox " ) yep thats the way forward , lower all our jobs down in a race to the bottom ( the minimum wage )
Where shall we start ? privatise the nurses like they did the cleaners in the hospitals years ago , resulting in the dirtiest no one could give a toss attitude in the wards , manned by the eastern bloc mob who unlike us are convienently allowed to live 10 in a caravan with no sanitation etc . tut tut its out the way we cant see em.
Privatise the railways ( edit ) oh silly me theyve allready done that , trains now running 400% overloaded , commuters paying 10 times what they did for the privelegde of standing all the way.

Privatise the bus companies ? another good idea rural bus service non existant , sorry there is one Wednesday at 3.15pm but the fares need a credit card .

Privatise Police ? Teachers ? Inland revenue ? UKBA ? Passport control ?? heaven help us
