I doubt it- unlike Americans, Brit's are still quite avid newspaper readers. The circulation of the Sun is around 3 million daily, and it is known to be a highly profitable newspaper, what with tits n bums & celebrity scandals in place of decent journalism. The circulation of the USA's largest paper, the Wall St Journal (also Murdoch) in contrast is only around 2 million.

But don't you think that even Murdoch must be getting nervous. With his lieutenants getting hit, police military, being arrested, are they going to stay quiet? He can not buy loyalty anymore. It sounds that the Brit Establishment have ditched him? He is now persona non grata. Sure the Sun will survive while the working class in GB is allowed to stay, but will he fold?

Prince Rupert's been 'looked down on' in establishment circles for eons- but that didn't stop him from buying the very establishment Times of London. He's the worlds largest publisher of English language newspapers, and last thing I knew the Sun was the single most profitable of these. I doubt he'd be keen to sell personally, and given his sway with vote chasing politicians, neither do I think he will be coerced. The dirty digger's always embroiled in some controversy or other- this is just the latest one.

It depends in part how public opinion shifts. The News of the World was pretty fucked after the Millie Dowler revelations, though there were rumours that its closure had been in the pipeline anyway. If people on The Sun have been up to something similar, I'm not sure what would happen.

Don't disagree Sab only to ponder, with his "digger charm" I wonder if the establishment is now relishing their chance to nail him? One investigation and sacrificial lambs to the slaughter, he managed to slide out from that wreck. I just wonder if his gripe on his troops is weakened by these latest arrests.

Never liked the Sun anyway. Apart from page 3 and the Sports......... O ya now I remember that was the Sun :-)
Dan this sounds almost worse they have arrested and charged members of the establishment on corruption? If anyone whistle blows now Mr. M could have a tougher time than a committee at parliament.
