    Ignorant Prejudice

How's this for another example of slanted, yellow journalism folks?

    Yahoo News Misleads Its Readers

"With respect to the news, we are living in a time of upheaval. I haven’t seen current numbers, but I think far more people get their news from Yahoo than from the New York Times, USA Today, Washington Post, etc. Unfortunately, Yahoo News is at least as biased as the more traditional liberal news sources. Today there was a classic example of Yahoo’s misleading news coverage. This is a screen shot of what I saw on Yahoo News this afternoon:

A striking headline, to say the least: “Debate crowd cheers letting uninsured die.” Really? Really? Someone, somewhere, is dumb enough to believe that, but I’m not. So I looked up what really happened. It starts just before the five minute mark in this Ron Paul highlight video–I know, but it was the only place I could readily find that had the exchange in its entirety–when Wolf Blitzer asks Dr. Paul what should happen if a young man chooses not to buy health insurance and then contracts an expensive ailment. Paul began by saying that this is the essence of freedom–the ability to take risks. This answer got a lot of applause, as it should. Blitzer followed up by asking whether “society” should then let the young man die. Yahoo told its uncritical readers that the “debate crowd cheer[ed] the idea of “letting [the] uninsured die.” But that isn’t what the crowd cheered at all:

Yahoo told its uncritical readers that the “debate crowd cheer[ed] the idea of “letting [the] uninsured die.” But that isn’t what the crowd cheered at all:
Paul answered Blitzer’s question “No.” By my count, three people yelled “Yeah” in response to Blitzer’s question, should “society” let the young man die. Paul’s answer was actually good: he said that when he was practicing medicine, the churches took care of indigent patients, and “we never turned anyone away.” That got another round of applause. “Society,” in other words, includes much more than the government.

So what really happened is that the “Tea Party” crowd cheered two things: 1) the proposition that people are entitled to take risks and the government should not be counted on to solve all problems, and 2) churches and other private groups should pay medical bills when an improvident individual can’t. This was transmuted by Yahoo into “Debate crowd cheers letting uninsured die.”

This is the sort of ignorant prejudice against which conservatives struggle every day."

The author makes a good point re folks getting their 'news' thru Yahoo & Google etc. Heavy left-wing bias dominates the internet as well as network news & the pathetic CNN's & MSNBC's...

What was really cringeworthy to watch was Paul getting roundly booed for suggesting that 9/11 happened as a result of US foreign policy; specifically its support of Israel and troops on Saudi Arabian soil. Rick Santorum countered that 9/11 happened because Islam doesn't like 'American exceptionalism'. 'American exceptionalism' - bloated and ludicrous rhetoric but the Tea Bagger crowd ate it up like red meat.

Here's a story that falls neatly into the Ignorant Prejudice catagory:

Olive Garden: American flag display would disrupt dining experience

I've always avoided Olive Garden like the plague. Their food is way too expensive and tastes like crap.

The Olive Garden story is a perfect example of the hypocrisy of the right wing patriots in America. They believe a business or individual has a right to own their own property and has the rights of the constitution yet they get all upset when that business owner actually chooses to do what he wants with his own property. There's really no story here.

My question is why Boonme flies a flag that takes away freedom of speech on his avatar while claiming he is some sort of believer in the freedom the American founders created. A better flag to fly on your avatar would be. It's basically what you are flying right now.

Paul getting roundly booed for suggesting that 9/11 happened as a result of US foreign policy; specifically its support of Israel and troops on Saudi Arabian soil.
By the way, Boonme do you agree with Ron Paul on this? If you don't, should he be on the no-fly list?

No sane person can agree with Paul that America deserved 9/11 because of its policies. It's been shown time and again that it is pure Muslim jealousy. Their corrupt 'religion' of hate breeds 'em to thinking that way but who woulda thought that an American like Paul would agree.

    Sad...like liberal white guilt, eh?

The Olive Garden story - this gal wanted to bring in a flag...has PC gone completely rabid batshit crazy or what. Like seeing the Stars & Strips is gonna put some liberal off his lunch or something?

People just don't want politics affecting their businesses. Why do businesses have to take political views? Boonme, if you want political statements from Businesses look at your own party members support of murderous 'Muslim' governments in the middle east. Dick Cheney's own Halliburton moved to the gulf. That's the sickness. I wonder if Halliburton in the US flies the Dubai flag under the American flag at its US (offshore) headquarters?

Anyways, your avatar shows that you were against the American revolution. You must be of British ancestry.

I didn't see this thread before but I did see the debate and I thought the audience yelled to let the uninsured die.

Sort of like they became the right-wing death squad right there on national TV.

    Here's the clip.

How is that? The Thai flag is most innocoous of avatars.

Halliburton was the most able company to hire for their varied roles in Iraq. It's not a small company. As far as that goes, XE had to move to Dubai as well 'cause of intrusive, petty government regulations. The sickness is Big Government.

It's funny how your OP deals with the media twisting a story into something else, and then a few posts down you do the same thing yourself.

If resentment over US foreign policy is not at the core of Islamic terrorism directed against the US & allies, pray tell what is. Are they jealous of McDonalds? Were they molested at an Esso station?

    Olive Garden Backs Down

Most corporations bend to the will of the Left not because they are run by moonbats, but because they are run by cowards. Push them the other way and they will move. For example:
A top Olive Garden executive will personally apologize to Oxford [Alabama] Kiwanis members Monday after their group was not allowed to display the U.S. flag in the food chain’s local restaurant last week, a local club member says.
Marti Warren, immediate past president of Oxford Golden K Kiwanis, said Bill Holmes, senior vice president of Olive Garden, based in Orlando, Fla., called her yesterday and apologized for the incident and set up a Monday meeting to personally apologize to her and a few other Kiwanians. Warren said Holmes would be taking the group out to lunch somewhere in Anniston as part of the apology.
Olive Garden backed down after patriots across the nation became enraged that the chain would not allow the Kiwanis to hang a US flag and recite the national anthem. According to the local manager, it would violate corporate policy

If I'm ever back in the States I still won't eat their crap food...

Great example of Americans speaking up. The Wall street protest is the same. I'm sure that other groups like the gay and lesbian alliance will be able to bring their flags to Olive Garden now. People can make corporations change.

And another example of ignorant prejudice from a far-left Loon:

This time, it’s Bill Maher suggesting that FOX News would be a lot “gentler” in their coverage of the OWS Poopstock in New York if somebody were to throw a few bricks through Rupert Murdoch’s apartment.

If people could throw bricks at Murdock's apartment, he would have moved long ago. I think you need a helicopter to do that, Boonme.

Yes, we understand that but the more important point is this loon's remark which can accuratly be construed as inciting violence.

Boonme, I doubt he was for violence. He just wants change. Personally, I think they should just avoid any words that could be construed as promoting violence and just bear arms at the protests like the teabaggers do. That way no one would feel threatened.

Why didn't the OWS protesters think of that? What pussies they are. No weapons. Not even a brick. They are Americans?

Teabaggers profoundly believe that everyone has the God given, Constitutional right to carry a gun.

Heh...you know that's not true. The right to bear arms includes all citizens and there's no evidence the Tea Party is racist in the least...
