I'm about to start the Padi Open Water Elearning course. Has anyone completed this online course before, and did the dives in Thailand afterwards?
Thanks

Nope, haven't dived in about 5 years.
I thought online TEFL courses were taking the piss, but online diving courses! Fok me.
I'm assuming this is the instructional book work. However my assumption this needs to be associated with some dive school in person then they sign a certificate and you do your practical skills with another dive outfit.
Practise holding your breath until the count of 5, then press the enter key.
The first part of any PADI course are the academics. They can be done independently of an instructor, as its really theoretical background. The idea is that you can complete the academics in your own time, and at your own pace - then go and do the in water stuff (pool and open water) with an instructor. Many people have limited time (on holiday etc) and would prefer to do the academics at home, rather than spend a day or so in a class room while on holiday.
^That's exactly right. Best to get the coursework over with. More time for dives, and vacationing.
For anyone interested I found it at PADI. The Way The World Learns to Dive
There is a nice demonstration on how to sift through the course.
Put Another Dollar In.
