We'll definitely miss some things about BGC, but overall I think we'll be happier in the apartment in PG.
As you both work remotely in IT, there will be a requirement for operational WIFi. Topper makes it work for him, so you know it’s doable.

A few people might might actually prefer the lack of it.

Very enjoyable vid clip btw. ✅

Thanks Switch. We have high speed fibre to the apartment, but I don't know yet how much redundancy is in the cable infrastructure. At a pinch, I can hotspot to my phone for a while.

This is just mucking around with the drone at Tuko Beach. You will notice how calm the waters are here, (of course that changes a bit when Typhoons pass nearby)

November 2018 we spent a few days on Verde Island

Verde Island is a volcanic island situated along the bodies of Verde Island Passage between the islands of Luzon and Mindoro.

It was in 1988 when a small village was connected to mains electricity through the effort of a European project using technologies such as solar panels for the island's self-sufficiency. Since then, it has been declared by the Philippine Tourism Authority as one of the country's marine reserves.

A lot of the dive boats that leave Batangas and Puerto Galera come here to dive.

We've done a few other trips to PG, but don't really have any great video of it.

The first few times we went, we stayed at a hotel called The Manor.

Here you can see it from Muelle Port, in the middle of the photo, taken in 2015.

It has pretty spectacular views, from inside the hotel, looking out the opposite direction to Muelle.

In this photo you can see the buildings between the dock and The Manor.

The building closest to the water is the Puerto Galera Yatch Club. The buildings behind it contain apartments.

And that folks, is where we now live.

As you can see here, they have recently built a boardwalk between the Yatch Club and Muelle.

Before, they had a tender that supposedly was free, to ferry people back and forth, but of course a donation was expected by the boatman.

Now its a very pleasant walk.

Tiz, I have pldt fiber to my place and have a phone with a 5g Globe sim that I use as backup. With both of you online, you might want a large data plan for your phones.

Looks like a lovely spot to live and work from home in. Certainly landed on your feet. Lightyears away from Singapore or Manila.

^^ & ^^^ looks good, tiz. Is your apt a flat or a 2-storey townhouse?

Btw, have you visited the 4 waterfalls in/ around PG? Tamaraw falls is the largest one & is right at the highway. It has a pool where ppl can swim in, as well as some tables for rent.

I've visited all 4. Aninuan falls requires a short trek in villages & coconut farms. You'll prolly need a guide (or could wing it & just ask villagers). The trek is mostly flat, so it's easy.

Tukuran Falls is in the vicinity of the Mangyan community (indigenous group). You'll prolly need tp hire a Mangyan guide. It's also good to browse tgrough their handicraft stores & support the locals. I bought a coaster set (for glasses). Maybe 15 to 30 min walk from the base.

Talipanan Falls is in the nearby town. From thr jump off point, you can hire a buffalo cart (which we did) or you can hike it (maybe 1 hour).

In those 4 falls, you can take a dip & refresh yourselves.

Btw, do you plan to get wheels later on? I think it would be needed there - you'll get tired of trikes in the long run. If you don't want a car, you can get a motorbike, e-bike (the 3-wheelers are good for hauling groceries) or the Bajaj trikes (Indian tuktuks, gasoline powered). The vlogger Bud Brown (US expat retiree w/ Filipina wife) has a Bajaj trike. You can also get a "multicab" - Japanese mini truck.

^didn't see that thread. Thnx for the info.

Isuzu trucks are good. I've a friend who used to work for Isuzu - said that their trucks & SUVs are top notch. (but yeah, she was biased. Lol)

Agreed. Must be great to be so close to peaceful waters and the potential for sailing and swimming in your downtime.

I always end up somewhere close to the water, and it usually turns out to be a happy subconscious choice. That balcony pic must have a great view. Top marks for location choice.

(I did note your earlier comments about rough seas during typhoon season).
