A day in the life in the North

Well once again we had one of those rogue summer storms rifle through the area causing severe damages to homes, businesses, power lines, trees etc. This time I was not home as I am off on business so my wife and her sister had to manage the chaos. These storms are really interesting as they develop extremely fast. temps drop from 40c to 23c and the wind goes from a slight breeze to gusts from 50 to 70kmh. People have little time to react to avoid damage or injury.

CM got smashed for an hour or so from out of nowhere around 4pm yesterday. Tiz been a while since I've seen wind with that insane level of power. The new section of roof that was finished on Monday evening got a good test and passed with flying colours not roof sheets.

When I was growing up in Melbourne we’d have those summer storms, loved the displays and usually a relief from extremely hot weather. But those storms blew in from the ocean, I wonder what the mechanism is in Lampang

Well, it's not ​that far from the coast.

From what I can surmise is it blows in from China typically and connects with exceptionally high temperatures. Kind of like in the Midwest in the US. High Temps coupled with moisture and some wind causes Tornado's. I suspect same type of phenomenon. Quite destructive.
