    Boy or girl?

Actually it doesn't matter, I care not these days.

I'm sure we'll get along just fine.

Enjoy your Easter... and the fine wine selection you have back in Blighty.

Different lives across the planet... while you're drinking Carling Black Label ( FFS...) and making conversation with the family in the pub, I'll be right here in Isaan and watching Death in Paradise in bed, undisturbed.

I think I have a couple of years on you?

Here's some advice. I have found that a dog and a wife snore, fart and belch in bed in a similar manner, but Maya doesn't demand any conversation, at all!

    Happy Days... and Happy Easter!

My offshore trip in Norway has been knocked back two weeks due to vessel maintenance.

This has pissed me off immensely because all I want to do is escape this awful Isaan heat and now I have no excuse for not finishing a couple of jobs.

I dropped off the daughter in Pak Chong on Wednesday for her two day test at a new school, and am starting to wish that I had just stayed in a hotel for two nights down that way... maybe check out the local bar scene. The climate in Pak Chong is cooler and airier than Korat and a couple of days to myself would have been good. But anyway, it didn't happen and I return today to pick her up but I'll stick an overnight bag in the car in case we fancy staying the weekend.

I may even stick a bucket and spade in the back and check out the 'kee chang' situation at Khao Yai while we're there!

In the meantime, yesterday I finished shifting the pile of topsoil. This wasn't nearly as much fun in 38 degrees heat as you may imagine.

Another lucky ung an. I found three yesterday, all undamaged despite hoeing up the soil first, and then shovelling.

The gardener was, of course, nowhere to be seen so I completed this task alone. It was even too hot for the dogs to sit in the shade and watch me toil, one of their favourite activities. I moved the soil to the far side of the pondside barbecue to make a kind of landscaped hill.

    A couple of hours later...

I don't know... I sometimes wonder why I bother doing these pointless exercises and should maybe just start daytime drinking?

It's not really the 'Mount Mendip' that I first envisaged, but will end up more of a dog-shit covered grassy knoll.

Tomorrow you need to dig a hole to bury all that soil, that'll keep you busy .

And do it between 10:00am and 3:00pm for best results. Then you can complain about the Korat heat.

Peak heat here is 4pm but today it'll be mid 30s from 11 to 7pm outiside withe little people!

Today is hottest day of the year first day iIhave had a fan with my morning coffee. It's even 24 in my den!!

Tomorrow 40 moot then rains due and welcome the paddies look parched, this one out of Guiness may resort to a Bear Beer at dusk or even a leftover Leo to save a visit to the store. While I prefer wine and spirits obviously even more dehydrating.
