    Only Fans to worry about.

There is this wonderful invention called an adjustable shutter venetian blind.
The modern vertical ones common in Offices are ok if no fans but can rattle a bit.
The trad metal ones have been upgraded and some with attractive wooden slats in a range of colours.
I retro fitted fixed louvres on my deck for shade.

Amazingly it's a sale day on lazada (lawyas is ) 5/5 excuse today

What many westerners few as stupid, is often quite an intelligent lining of the pockets. Someone's maid probably owns the suppling company of district lighting. Though utter stupidity must never be fully ruled out, of course.
He is probably in jail for bringing that to the public's attention now

I'm sure you are familiar with an Aldis lamp used for signalling at sea or the the famous old Girdleness or Marstein,Ryvarden Lighthouses.

With a wok sporran for modesty you could signal to pyjama girls using blinds, a flash in the pan could probably be a Tikwok sensation. PM for more Trinity hose short codes

    ^ She's moved.
Possibly after the gardener told her about Mendy polishing his aladdins lamp in front of him

She can run, but she can't hide!

I know where she lives and I must admit that I wouldn't mind munching down on her magic carpet... if you know what I mean.

    That was my first wish.

My second wish was that I no longer had this bloody spotlight shining into my bedroom window.

Rub rub, and lo and behold!

    My genie works, after all!

From what I could see, the guy just twatted the damn light until it pointed into the neighbour's house, the other side of the lane.

This didn't really seem right to me but I have learnt to keep schtum in such matters.

A bit precarious... I reckon this guy could have done with a magic carpet as well!

The light is now pointed directly at the neighbour's upstairs windows. This could provide an unexpected bonus because one of the daughter's is really quite tasty!

The proof of the pudding is in the sleeping of course, so I will find out tonight. I still hate the damn thing and wonder where the most vulnerable places are?

But anyway, while I'm on a roll I had another good rub earlier to make my third and final wish... but to be honest it's not suitable for a family forum.

But put it this way, I won't be making my flight next week if it comes true!

My insomnia continues, but at least I get to see the new lighting during the night.

    At 01:50 am...

The garden was lit up, but the street light no longer shines into the bedroom window.

I'm taking this as a win!

    Actually, I think you do.

By the bye, after our concrete soi came street lighting similar to yours, one lamp opposite my gate. CWMS was happy, she'd like floodlights outside. I was grumpy and scowled at it until, after a week or so, it simply stopped working. All the other lights along the soi are fine, only this one has failed.

    Sometimes the gods act immediately..
You can be sure that it will be repaired. Anytime between now and five years ahead, a week before a local election.

^ I've already reported it for not working.

I don't see why I have to put up with a street light while Shutree gloats!

'Er indoors reported it on day one, resulting in a deafening silence from the authorities. It is the election this weekend and I did worry that it might get fixed but, no. On the plus side the dogs went crazy this morning and there was a person at the gate with a wodge of cash. Very kind of them to think of us. The other candidate hasn't rocked up yet.

I am still thinking about the bright side. I am coming to the conclusion that what I really like about living here is missing the things I don't like about living elsewhere.
In England I could shuffle down to the pub and get a decent pint of beer at an indecent price, then have to listen to people complaining about the roadworks on the A12 or the bin collections or, worse, they start asking what I think about Starmer and then be unhappy with any reply.
In England I could vote, so I'd feel obliged to have an opinion about politics. Here, I have no dog in the fight, so I don't care. Once established, my only contact with the authorities was the annual renewal at Immigration. That is changing, now we have income tax returns and TDAC to think about.
In England, I'd have neighbours. Here there are people who live around me and I care for them about as much as they care for me, the main point being they don't bother me.
In England I'd be cold much of the time. I feel the cold. Unlike my ex and one of my sons who seem untroubled by freezing weather I really hate being cold and I couldn't afford to heat an English house these days. I am writing this, watching to see if my garden will flood, so Thai weather is far from perfect, however I have the fan on and feel rather comfortable. At the other extreme, on those odd English days when the heat is overbearing, most homes lack aircon so you just have to open the windows and listen to people complain about the heat.
That's about as bright as I get!

Some bloke with a cherry-picker truck turned up yesterday and fixed the street light outside my gate. Looking on the bright (ahem) side, CWMS is happy.
