    Rocksteady's swinging by

Caught a really interesting thread on building in bamboo - very informative and something that I have been planning to do for many years. So, I thought I'd join up and say a big howdee doodee to yers all. Looks like a great place to drop by and keep up with life out here. I've spent 20 years living full time in Asia - 5 in tokyo and the rest in Thailand but there's always new things to learn. Looks like there's heaps on this forum. Cheers all

Thanks everyone. Really miss Terry and them boys as well as all the other great gigs back in the UK.

Maybe that could be a business out here - streaming live gigs. I own 5 rai in Singburi but we'd have to watch it in boats

^Unfortunately not mate, I was just a wee kiddy! The house actually featured on a documentary about two-tone recently, was strange to see my old street on telly!

It's whispered in hushed but hugely respectful tones that the bonus track on the doc features a fly on the wall coverage of Nevile popping round to scrounge a cup of sugar!

Would love to see that doc - what's it called Khmen?

Betty, are you hinting at past experiences? I heard they don't call him DJ for nothing...

Fantastic Kmen. Really enjoying watching them. Funny, I grew up in Birmingham and the whole two tone thing happened as me and my mates were in the middle of the mod revival.

I remember two tone as being a part of a far wider movement that encompassed Elvis Costello, dexy's midnight runners, the jam, The Police, Blondy ,the stray cats and matchbox (the rockabilly revival) It's was a fantastically creative year, or so

Having said that, just as things started to really take off, I joined the Royal Navy on 1st April 1980. I think this was a statement as this was my second joining up date - the first had been in the summer of 1979 but after all my good bye parties with my mates I turned up at the recruitment office in the bullring - a day late!

Still, it allowed me to join in the birth of two tone before I went on to serve a nine year career
