Just read another thread, and a comment from DD:
"An awfull crime, joining a forum and not even introducing yourself, much the same as you have just done, tosser."
This wasn't directed at me, though it did make me check my previous posts to see if I'd maintained protocol. Not.
So, lived here permanently for nearly 3 years, for 2 of which I was commuting elsewhere for work. From school was in the UK military for 8 years, and spent the rest of my life in the oil industry. Lived and worked in quite a few countries, though the last 10 years or so mainly Africa.
Since in Thailand, as with most of us, had varied experiences, though in truth 99% good. Been through the cycle of renting accommodation, buying house (through company), cars, boat, various licences and registrations. 2 years with the same lady (strictly non BG) got married quite recently. Have 2 dogs (Golden Retrievers), and whilst I hate to admit it, a third, my wife's poodle (actually a good dog, but yappy).
Live in Phuket, which is actually a great place to live, depending on your lifestyle. Very good range of services when you need them, fantastic facilities and places to visit (away from the west coast).
