G'Day. Just a quick intro from myself. Been travelling to Thailand, well Phuket really, for a few years and decided to stretch out and see other parts, mainly because golf has become way too expensive in Phuket for my budget. My next trip is to Hua Hin and surrounds. I have no inclination to visit Pattaya just as I have never been to Patong at night either. Not into the temptation side of LOS, well maybe a little bit.

I have been reading this forum for a few years and always found a good mix of news and trip reports etc. Good forum, probably better than most others.

I am also taking a side trip to Nakhon Nayok because of a golf invitation but I will post my request on teh Central Thailand area. I think that's what I am supposed to do.

I look forward to exchanging tips and ideas, specially on travel within.

welcome Winston. Never say never. There is plenty of excellent golf to be found in the Pattaya area. Don't rule it out if that is where your focus is.

A golf trip report with pics would be in order then, I think.

    Welcome aboard winston.

As SEA says if you're a keen golfer you are spoilt for choice around Pattaya.

Welcome Winston. The comments about Pattaya and the golf are true. There is life outside of south Pattaya.

Hallo and welcome. Besides golf PTY has most other sports available, basically from a to z and fine dining and movie theaters as well. If you are not just "cnut struck" you will find it OK.

With all due respects Pattaya and more specifically Banglamaung province must be the Number 1 destination for golfers in Asia.

There are around 15 world class golf courses surrounding Pattaya City itself and there is absolutely no reason to go to Pattaya city and to enjoy whats on offer outside of that shithole.

On Thuesdays and Thursdays they have what they call sports day where the green-fees are sometimes as low as 350 Baht which includes a buggy and caddie. If you also take the time and get yourself a Pattaya Sports Club card you will receive further good discounts at every major golf course in the Chonburi region.

Where I live is on the rural outskirts of Pattaya city and close to Maprachan Lake where now you will find new hotels and bars/ restaurants catering mainly for dedicated golfers who want to keep away from the riff-raff.

Do yourself a favour and look up the golf courses here and I guarantee you will not be disappointed!

100% in agreement with above statement. Everything within a 50Km radius in various qualities and price range (there is a connection you know)

Thanks for the welcome everyone. I guess I will have to make it to the outer areas of Chonburi to check out the golf. I think the last "Royal Trophy" ? was in Chonburi and the course was very inviting. I'll check it out.

If I was travelling from Nakhon Nayok to Chonburi, would I catch a bus to a hotel or hire a car and drive down?
