Hi sabai- welcome to TD.
Read all about it- theres a TD pissup happening in Udon next month.![]()

Hi Sabang,
Wish I was at the "The Piss Up" , I read all about it. I know a few of the guys you will meet up with, fairplay for taking the trouble to go up.
If you need any help on where to get pissed let me know. I am not old enough yet to adhere to the lights out ((unwritten law)) in Udon.

Welcome Khun Sabai.![]()

Have fun and welcome!

G'day Sabai and welcome.
So, what do you do for fun in Udon?

Thanks Jo, Jet, and propagator, in answer to your question what do I do for Fun? mostly steer clear of "Farangs".
As Udon is mostly frequented by retirees, I still have a lot of "GO" in my system (State of mind) which I aquired in Pattaya 15 years ago! I usually hang out with the wife and and a few Thais, Bib etc, I know some would disagree but I test the water, as you do, before you hang around with anybody in Udon. It maybe a City but really a "small Village" so if you fall out with anyone you end up having to avoid them, which is not easy as most expats here frequent the same bars, I.E. the Irish Clock, Nongs Ribs, Mojos, Steves bar Etc.
When I go on the Gargle which is quite often I arrange to meet up with a similar minded "head" for an early Beavy and plan out the day. Your Baht goes a lot further here "Big Time". I usually make a fool of myself in a likable way, " must be doing something right as they keep coming back".
I steer clear of disorientated "Pattaya Expats" whom, when they arrive here are " A Fish out of water so to speak". These "heads" cannot get in to their brain that there is no , Walking Street, Soi, Yodsak, Etc, and are only relocated here due to the "Promises they made to their betrowed , or new Thai wife they have recently married", and their spouse wants to return to their abode from which they came. ISAAN!!!!!!!!!! A lot dont adjust at all from the busy day to day of Pattaya and after a few lonely gargles stir it up in Udon and try to "impose their past experiences on the population!!!!!!!
The above does not go down well with the retired farangs, of which their is quite a lot, so they are cast into oblivion forever, complete with nametag. I sort of understand the Pattaya type, they make the "Promise" in Pattaya to their girl in question to settle in Udon without checking out the country life whatsover , A bit like being used to a CBR 1100, but having to settle with a Honda wave. They usually put up with it for a while, and follow their heart. But I have seen many return to the Bustle and choices available in Pattaya.
Dont get me wrong it is not always the case but "NO" retired farang will strike up an instant liking for you here unless you have some sort of "CV" to prove your intentions of not stirring the shit in the City they have chosen to settle down, On the other hand I have frequented a few hospitals here, not out of choice (pancreas) and as a member of the "Udon Forum" I was surprised by the amount of members who dropped in and wished me well "numerous times". This was a shock to the system as I only knewthe guys from the forum!!!!!!!!!! I broke down once on the arrival of a certain poster and his family who took the time to visit me. I am grateful for that.
You have to understand in the "outback" you are supported by your immediate family (Thai) at hand, when something goes belly up like your health. but you yearn for somebody that speaks english, to walk into your hospital room to give you some support and communication with the outside world. In Pattaya I relied on my drinking buddies who were incencere and unreliable.
If you want reviews on hospitals in Pattaya or Udon let me know "I'm Your Man"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yes I even have a Gold Membership for my 12 Stays in Pattaya Memorial Hospital!! I am on first name terms with most of the staff their, especially accounts. Some funny things happened on my stays in Pattaya hospitals, I remember I ran out of money in Pattaya International Hospital some years back, I had already paid them about 110.000 baht and was shown the door!! It ended up me having an agreement with the consultant (as he didnt want to lose my trade) that each evening I would arrive by Songthaew 8PM pay 800 baht, "whack me with morphine" happy days, and being escorted back to our awaiting stagecoach, from there my legs would be of rubber so the 200baht Songhthaew charge included the driver getting me back to my hotel bedroom, which usually entailed the use of the trolly "thing" for carrying suitcases, I have many stories of Pattaya, mostly funny, even when they locked me up, my own personal Police bodyguard for 4 years, etc. but thats for another day.
Take care and again thanks for the welcome.

wow, sounds like ya got some interesting stories.

Hi Rigger, I read some of your postings recently, would I be wrong in assuming that you are a member of Udon map??
in relative terms it is the "outback" when you are in a bit of bother!! you would like to converse with your own countrymen if possible. In my case I dont know any Irish, except the twat that owns the Irish Bar![]()
i never converse with any foreign people in the real world.Originally Posted by Khun Sabai

Ye Willy Clondalkin!! I think its a while since you were back here, stay where you are this old tiger economy is up the Swanny, Full of Nigerians as well. Not easy to find a "Dublin speaking head" over here anymore. The broken english I accrued over in Thailand is used to capacity in Ireland now, even asking for a bloody ham sandwich, Full of Chinese, Polish, romanians, Pakistanis, etc.etc.etc. willing to work for buttons or go on the welfare, or as with the Nigerian "DELEGATION" both. (they get free taxi plates, cars to go with them, and new houses,) Thats Irish Gov policy, Does not apply to ordinary Irish people that pay tax.![]()
yeah, has been awhile, i've heard the the old economy aint so crash hot.

Sorry cant pm you Willy, they reckon houses will be down 50% by xmas,Average price 3 bed, down from 16 million Baht to 8 Mil. A lot of negative equity there, a lot of negative everything unfortunately. As I said, stay where you are!!!!!!!!!

hello and welcome khun sabai, which part of udon? in town or outside?
