    Welcome to Teak Door.

Are you set on a Cocker, or would you considering adopting a (probably mixed breed) dog from Soi Dog Foundation? They do a wonderful job down there & you would gain a loving, loyal companion which would already be neutered, vaccinated and have a clean bill of health.

If you do buy a purebred dog, do not buy from a market or a shop. There are loads of puppy farms around where the dogs are ill treated, ill socialised and often sick. The number of market bought pups I've seen dying from parvo or distemper is ridiculous! Go to a reputable breeder where you can see mum & pups in their own environment. When you do get a dog, get it vaccinated. Rabies is required yearly by law & combined vaccines (parvo, distemper, lepto) are advisable as those canine diseases are rife in Thailand. Good luck.

Would you be willing to take an adult? By pure chance, I rescued an adult male Cocker yesterday. His owner had moved to BKK & abandoned him in a filthy cage. Some Thais had been feeding him, but couldn't do any more so they called us in. He has an eye infection & a slight skin infection at the mo, that I want to clear up before he goes anywhere. He is also limping slightly on one of his front legs (I hope because of enforced immobility, but will check that out if it persists). He's fairly young by his teeth (18 months to 2 years old) & neutered (go figure - they abandon a pedigree dog that they've paid for & neutered!) Very very friendly & loving. Very calm temperament also. He'll be free to a good home once I've got him sorted. Only problem is transport, as I'm in Hua Hin.
If you're interested, let me know & I'll post some pics of him.
The Thais were calling him Khun Pen, but I have trouble calling a dog Khun anything, so I'm calling him Joe (Cocker- geddit!?)

Cockers are good dogs...used to have a male one myself.

However, the Brittanies are a bit nicer.
