I think your under a bit of a delusion on that one due to you thinking page hits will get more clicks on ads in a forum.

A well set up static page with a 1,000 hits per month will generate more income than a forum with a million hits per month, as forums are dynamic the content is changing all the time so you don't get to choose what type of ads you want and generally they will bare no resembelance to the actual topic, also as forums are high traffic you will get companies targetting the site just to get their name known, they know they are not going to get any clicks so it isn't costing them anything just to get their name known.
