Thread: Ancient Newbie

Newly joined upon the recommendation of a fish. See I have to post 10 hail Mary's to join the Teakdoor inner sanctum. Looking to the right in the smiles window as I type this post, I can see Teakdoor will be a refreshing alternative to the "other" forum I visit.

I came to Thailand when Moby Dick was a minnow and live in a Roiet Province village not far from the Roiet Cattle Auction, one of our many famous tourist attractions. To escape the stress and rat race of village life, expect to spend several hours a day on the forum.

I see many familiar faces and names here so appeal for your assistance to get me over the 10 post threshold.

Yowsa is an old "hello and yes sir" from some old film of an elderly black man in some old film. Last time I saw it was in the Peter Sellers film "being there" as they replayed that old clip.

You are probably thinking about the 1969 film "They Shoot Horses Don't They?" but the origin goes back to the 1920's.
"Yowza yowza yowza" was popularized by the American bandleader Ben Bernie who flourished in the 1920s/30s. He was one of the first nationally-popular radio artists, and his program began some-thing like this: "Yowza, yowza, yowza, lads and lassies, this is the Old Maestro speaking."
