    My Introduction

Hey folks. New to the board, and thought I'd join up and introduce myself. I haven't moved to Thailand yet, but just returned from a visit in April, and I'm heading back in June to spend more time there.

My April visit was to 3 countries: Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia (Bali). I like them all, but Thailand just feels right. April was my 2nd time there. When I return in June, I'm spending 3.5 weeks. Starting out in BKK and will play the rest by ear.

I'll be reading more of the board. Already enjoyed a couple of threads.

I'm a software dev from Seattle. Not retired yet, but I can travel a fair amount, and I may choose to work from Thailand for a few years -- doing my own thing (web start up idea).

I'm 100% sick of the weather in Seattle 8 months a year, and had been planning to move to San Diego, but after a few trips to SE Asia, I have to say SEA it is even nicer, with a lower cost of living. Where else can you get a decent condo in a nice building with a nice lap pool for $1k/mo?

I hope to see you around the boards in some threads, and if things work out for me, I'll be living there soon. (I still have to get my house in Seattle setup as a rental while I'm away).

    Cheers

Nope I didn't. But I'm not planning to buy or build a house in Thailand. I'm content to rent. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum, good luck with the whole Thailand thing.

Seattle... Please confirm, is there really 'hella Honda Civics' as Macklemore claims?

Yep in Seattle you have to "Make your own sunshine" while here there is too much, sometimes.

    This is an Asian Koel.

Not sure how it compares to other places, but yes there are a lot of cars that kids like to modify. They lower them, add tinted windows, and add those glasspack muflers to them, which make them louder than I like. Seems to happen with Civics, certain old BMWs, and certain old Subarus. I'm not a fan of the culture, but it is what it is.

I read somewhere that Seattle has only about 80 nice days a year, where a nice day is defined as mostly blue sky. The rest are grey and drizzly, especially from Oct - Feb. Global climate change seems to have improved that the last few years, but still not the warm nice weather that I'd prefer.

    Cool looking bird.
