Hello People,
I am new user to TeakDoor and wish to introduce myself.
My name is Craig (50) I live and work in England, my wife is from Mukdahan and we have a little daughter (3yrs), ive been married for 4 years and have commuted to and from Thailand since 2009.
We have property and land south of Pattaya which we have rented and leased. We chose to set roots up here in Isaan where we have settled to raise our family, we have a 2 bedroom house which we have just completed 9th July 2014, this only took 4 months from plan to finish costing 2m baht including purchase of just over 1 Rai close to the Mekong, concrete boundary wall 100m x 25m.
The house is single floor over 200m of floorspace both bedrooms en-suite, lounge, dining room, kitchen, utility and storage with front and rear covered extra living space, gardens front/rear (pool development) and lots and lots extra gardens half Rai which we are looking to build 6 to-let living spaces with parking next year.
I am looking forward to seeing the completed work in October when I am due back in Thailand, it was 90% finished when I returned to work in UK in early June 2014. We chose to move back to Isaan to get away from the Razamataz of Pattaya and live among (Real Thai People) and the rich culture.
The pace of life is much slower, people are more friendly and the cost of living is much much cheaper away from the resorts.
There is a good Ex-pat community that live up here in Mukdahan who try and meet up every Saturday Night to enjoy sharing tales and generally providing much needed advice ( where to go/buy) etc.
Very simple to cross the Friendship Bridge into Loas if visa's need renewing and the climate is cooler living along the banks of the Mekong, all in all its a up and coming Province which has lots to offer Foodshopping Tesco, BigC, Makro, Robinsons, Global House, Wasadu it has it all.
and 200km from DaNang Vietnam resort if you need a Holiday.
in fact it Pretty much got everything at a fraction of the cost. Appy Days.
