    Hi Everyone

    Hey guys/girls

Dave from Australia, married to a beautiful Thai lady (7years now), 2 children with her.

Love all things Thai, well most anyway. Have plans of eventually retiring there, but being on the right side of 40 yet means it's still a way off. Unless my numbers drop tonight or I figure out how to get away with armed robbery.

Anyway plan on building over there shortly, so will have a crack at doing a construction thread.

Thanks for the forum, it's interesting, informative and most importantly humorous.

    Cheers

    Davearoo

    Thanks for the welcome,

Always great to see other Aussies,

Going to be building in deep dark Isaan..., about 40 mins out from Korat. Phimai area.

Only been there once with the missus before we had kids, not much out there but it's purely for the MIL and FIL. Planning to get our own place around Rayong in the next year or so.

Actually, contrary to popular belief, Isaan is neither deep nor dark. It is in fact rather shallow and extremely bright.

Hi Dave - the infestation of poms on this board are reasonably well washed and mostly harmless

I'm actually looking forward to see'ing more of it when I get the chance to take a decent amount of time off from work. As it is at the moment, it's a struggle just getting 4 weeks off to spend 3 in Thailand.

Is there a hamster wheel smilie ????????

I'm a cockroach as well (Sydney) and yes let's not talk about origin football.

At least we got back to kicking the Poms arse in the cricket which was a relief.

Betty likes to talk about the cricket Mate. Doesn't matter what the thread is about Betty is always overjoyed when someone asks her about the cricket.

You might want to reconsider the move to Rayong.

Appreciate the link. Luckily not over invested in the idea yet. I personally prefer Cha Am but the missus was keen on Rayong. That vid could be enough to sway things my way for a change.

Dave Cha Am is a nice area, it,s alot cleaner.
I live about 100klm north of Cha Am & 100 klm west of bangkok?
South of Cha Am 100 klm it is real nice beaches
also 100 south of Rayong it is nice as well.
But not Rayong to bring up childen.
you should travel around first to find some where you like,it took me 8 years to fine where I like, so good luck.

Welcome to TD, Davearoo. I'd go for Cha am above Rayong too. Used to live in Hua Hin, and I have a bit of a soft spot for the area (both North & South)

I've stayed in Cha Am before and travelled around the area a bit so completely understand what you mean, beautiful part of the world.

The thing I should have mentioned straight up, is that what we are looking to get for ourselves, is an investment, not too live in. Possibly use it as a holiday Pad if it's not occupied the whole year, thus the pondering on area.

Still got at least 10 years of working here in Aus before I could consider moving to Thailand. Unless of course I could land a gig over there that paid close to what I get here.

End game is to have a few investment properties over there by time we are ready to move, so neither of us will have to work.

Apologies for my lack of clarity in the original post.
