    Hi all

I have been recommended to this site by a very close friend, I also have a few ex squaddie mates living in Thailand. Still not figured out if my mates on here. Anyway enough about me, my close friend tells me ill enjoy the political and news forums immensely I am a little right wing .

I live in England and am looking forward to coming to Thailand with my wife in November, the only place I have visited in Asia is South Korea and I did not enjoy the experience, mainly the smell it was rotten. So all recommendations of places to go would be appreciated. I have very little interest in Tourist attractions I want to see the real Thailand and real Thai food. I hope the problems there are over by then. Thank you for taking the time to read my post

Hello Casca, interesting first post. I hope you're not really from Nottingham, I have very bad memories of Nottingham...

Hope you enjoy the forum, you will quickly make good friends with Blue.

A South Londoner who became a Northerner and is a Notts Forest fan, that's not good...

Thai food: you want a nice kapow moo, very tasty, gotta have a fried egg on top too. 35 baht.

    ^ true, my mistake, sorry.

Thailand will be very different from Korea, you should enjoy it here much more. I lived in Korea for a year, didn't like it much.

Depending what you like to see: Krabi is a lovely place that's not as touristy as Phuket or Samui. Sukhothai is a really nice relaxing place, a former capital city with a national park you can spend a day or 2 cycling around. Khao Yai is a natural reserve, very big, lots of lovely places to stay. Up North has the hills, but Chiang Mai, still nice, is getting bigger and more touristy. Many different types of places to go in Thailand, depending on what most interests you.

If you like history then Sukhothai is great - my favourite place for that kinda thing; really nice little museum too - all together in one place. Ayudthaya obviously too. Bang-Pa in is on the way from Bangkok to Ayudthaua and makes a nice stop off for a couple of hours.

Although I've joined in, I've never understood either. You'll need to ask BaitongBoy.

I think a nice kapow moo is my favourite everyday dish. If the missus is in cooking mood (she's an excellent cook) then a nice green curry chicken or masaman can really hit the spot too. Here in the desert, I've just had a turkey slice roll...

I believe in Justice , I believe every body should work , I don't believe in supporting the unemployed long term , I don't believe in Euro immigrants coming to the UK to claim off the NHS or UK benefits . If they come and work no problem. I could go on and on , but my biggest issue currently is Democracies of 100,s of millions who manage to be ruled by a few families how can that be democracy????
