What kind of Motorcycle do you own.

I would put a picture up of my bike but it says I cannot make attachments.

I've got pics of it as it is now and of what she should look like when I'm finished with it. Still waiting for more parts to come in from the US. A Welsh friend just brought in a set of carbs that I wanted for spares. IT's an old bike but will be fun to ride.

It's a 1986 Kawasaki Eliminator 900. Stock is over 85hp with a top speed of about 145mph, 6 speed traney and has a driveshaft (no chain). Maybe after I get more posts in, I'll be able to post the pics.

So what kind of bikes do you guys and gals have?

I thought "drive" is used with cars and "ride" is used with bikes.

You are absolutely correct on that goddess Also, you don';t steer a bike like a car, you lean it.

You counter-steer the bike. The lean is a side effect of that very action.

You can post pics here, but first you must upload them to somewhere like www.photobucket.com and then link to the image address.
It's dead easy when you now how.
Pm me if you get stuck

Sorry I don't have a bike but I have nothing against people who ride them so long as they are not gay

I've had a few bikes, BSA, Matchless, Montesa Cota which was bloody uncomfortable to ride on the road, Suzuki SP400 was my last bike.

I only ride a step thru in LOS as I don't need to go fast, I rather fancy an Indian Enfield if I can find one.

    And I'm not gay.
    Lord, deliver us from e-mail.

Dougal, there is a very old Enfield in my town.
Next time I see it I will ask the owner if he wants to sell and take a picture for you.
I know nothing about bikes but it looks about 1950 at the latest to me.
Oh, unless he turns out to be gay because then I won't speak to him.

Thetyim, I would be interested in pics of the Enfield and if the guy wants to sell. Where is it located? Is it running or does it need to be restored.

I was working in Delhi a few years ago walked past a shop and stopped for a double take there in the window was a red Royal Enfield Bullet, wow what a sight it was.
South Delhi Motor cycles in Kalkagee South Delhi Motorcycles
In I go wide eyed and salivating and ask a price in Rupees it worked out to around 1100 pounds I was buying one there and then eagerly telling the sales guy I would ship it to my Thai home, he then stopped me and advised me to look in to the Thai import duty at the time it was around 120% of new cost.
A nice honest guy the Indian sales guy was a true gent I didn’t buy the bike, but part of me has regretted it.

Used to build and ride. was my life. Miss it. Been plannin' another hope to get it done this year. Last bike was a 98" low rider. branch flowed heads, Ron Carrillio made the rods. Custom machined my flywheels, about 11:1 compression, 1 7/8" carb. Not much for the twisties but after about 2500 RPM she'd peel the skin off your face. Load of torque, carried it all through about 7200 RPM. In a hawg that's spun tigher'n hell.
next one's gonna have to be 120 CU in. and rigid. Might beat me to death but it'll be fun.

What an over rated POS! If you enjoy watching your eyeballs vibrate go for it! At least a heritage soft tail or an FLHS ride half decently. The fat boy is all show and no go. In other words it's a freaking joke amongst those who know anything about motorcycles. You want a superlative cruiser styled ride? Get the big suzuki intruder now that's a worthy machine.

It cant be as bad as my old 1981 FLH strip dresser was shit I couldnt even keep my feet on the foot pegs at 170klm/h.
I know a few guys that own Fatboys and dont have to many problems with them other than starter motor problems at 25,000 klm. May be you just road a dud.
I havent really decided it has to be a fatboy but there is one around for the money I want to spend 500k to 600k
Dont really want another jap cruiser

I thought a Fatboy was basically a stripped down Heritage? Same engine and frame surely?

Thinking of selling my 98 Heritage cheaply but the fact that it's done almost 130k without a problem is giving me second thoughts. Damned most reliable bike I've ever owned.

My 98 Transalp on the other hand has only done 50k. The engine sprocket fell off at 45k, the CDI units are fucked (production problem), the battery overcharges (again production problem) the rubber rear indicator stems have both rotted away, the plastic side panels break too easily when removing etc.etc.......still, it's good for pottering around on.

Fat boy and heritage share chaissis, engine and every thing else, really just stylistic differences. The heritage does have a small amount of weight over teh FB. Seems you just rode a badly maintained, or set up, one.
Lke any bike a loose nut or bolt, primary chain or out fo balance wheel(s) can ruin a ride. Met a dude the other day was complaining his HD got wobbly at high speed. Nice fella maybe ai should have asked if he'd had his weheels balanced, or if he checked to see if the were properly aligned. Some folks just expect a harley to be a beast and accept it, move on call all hogs POSs. Any vehicle can get thrown out of whack or suffer from poor setup/maintenance.

Yea I probably rode a crap fat boy. I didn't know the heritage had the same chassis.
The heritage soft-tail is bearable but still not a comfy ride.

Seriously if you're in the market for a cruiser look for a big suzuki intruder. It's one smooth mofo with the shaft drive.

If you've got 950000 baht to spare you can buy one of these! This has to be the best motorcycle made today!
