It's actually quite easy. All you have to do to legally import a motorcycle is to pay 200% import duty (based on the price of an equivalent new motorcycle).

Strip it and ship it over in bits pay the import tax for second hand parts and a 2% rebuild tax. I will check with some mates tommorow and PM you but it is not all as bad as it seems. Do you think all the bike shops pay 200%Originally Posted by breezer

I don't think I would be keen to strip a bike like that into a box and try and get it through customs or hope to see it again, It is probably worth a fortune.
What type is it??
Fahn Cahn's
I can remember something abut shipping bikes in from Burma and that iw was diffisuclt because they were classed as antiques.
NOt sure at what age they say they are antiques here.
To strip the bike and then re build would not be a problem although i would prefer to ship the bike in one piece . I do not have enough post to post a photo if someone is kind enough to pm me an email addy i will email a photo for the forum .
worth of this type of bike is what someone is willing to pay for it but the bike will never be for sale i have seen some fantastic British bikes for sale this year and they are not selling .
I did have a BSA shooting star that was imaculate condition but some tosser nicked it and it was never recovered i just hope the sae does not happen with this beauty .

Hey Q, what could you get a plated CBR 400 like mine for down your way?
I just completely rebuilt the engine on my 1989 Honda VFR NC-24. Its is the only one you will see in Chiang mai, not the type with the big fairings and I have got plans for it. I put it in a wall over a year ago, that cost me 9000 bht, rebuilt the engine, that was 9000 bht. I want to get a new tachometer and speedometer for it similar too the super four; anybody know where i can get a used one? I also want to get a wider low profile tire for the back; any suggestions?
I am in chiang mai by the way.
Pop down the pirate's cove next Tuesday evening and introduce yourself to us.
Cali
Red Baron BKK will have one and they will ship it too you.
Probably looking at 6k or so for the meters.
CMN
I'll ask my mates whats about.
Thanks mrsquirell
I have heard of red baron but was hoping to keep the price for the meters down to around 3000, hence second hand, but I will look into red baron anyway.
Thanks again
It will be second hand there.
Try #MOCYC.COM# Everything About Thailand Motorcycle. as well
#MOCYC.COM# ÍÐäËÅè NSR 250 PGM3 - NSR 250 breaking I think but I think the meter fits your bike -
Cheers Squix.CMN

^ Just tried but they are bmp....
I uploaded a red cross. Sorry I'm not the brighest when it gets to this.
Can you upload bitmap?
Send as jpg better under 1 mb so i don't have to resize.
There's a thread in the Newbies area that tells how to display pictures.

Sad I know but that would be good fun
^ Best thing about a sidecar is all the beer you can fit in it. Also they are a relatively easy reach away when you finish the last cols one. If your dog is not too big you can fit your dog and a cooler and go for a nice ride. Last great thing about a sidecar is when you get real hammered and forget to put your feet down it doesn't fall over!
It's only 68,000 as well.
I can't stop looking at it.
From a blackbird to that ????
I guess you really are having some sort of change in life thing
On the other hand it would be fun for about a day and it is something different here in Thaiand
Just don't try and brake into a left hand corner.
i tried a mates out once and we ended up in a paddock. Lucky as the next corner was a railroad track.
Those things require a total rethink on how you know how to ride.
^Is that one of those really small toy bikes?
