    New Ford Ranger FX4

BANGKOK, Thailand, August 8, 2016 – Ford Thailand today announced that it is continuing to build on the success of the segment-defining Ranger by increasing the product lineup through six new models. These include two variants of the new Ranger FX4 and the addition of four additional models to its Ranger XL and XLS product-line, to meet customer demand, which differ across various segments. The new lineup will offer an expanded range of options for consumers looking for best value in the segment and a class-leading, Built Ford Tough pickup.

Since its launch, Ranger has set a new benchmark for the pickup truck segment with an uncompromised blend of robust capability, craftsmanship and advanced technology. Providing comfort and refinement without compromising any of its rugged capability, the Ranger represents a smarter kind of tough that helps customers achieve more.

“Ranger leads the way as Ford’s best-selling nameplate in Thailand, with seven-month share of 8.5 percent and sales of 15,835 units, an increase of 30 percent from the same period last year,” said Yukontorn ‘Vickie’ Wisadkosin, managing director, Ford Thailand.

“Ranger has redefined customer expectations of a pickup truck and helped drive our success in Thailand. With the introduction of the FX4 with a tough and sport look and new XL and XLS models that offer the best value in the segment, supported by our increased retail footprint, we are confident that we will reach many new-to-Ford customers nationwide.” added Yukontorn.

Best value in the segment and a range of options

In order to offer the best value on the Built Ford Tough Ranger and higher-efficiency engine capacity, Ford is introducing four new models on its XL and XLS line:

    · Standard Cab 2.2L VG Turbo XL 4x2 with 6-speed Manual Transmission: A high-powered standard cab with more features, including USB and Bluetooth connectivity. Generates improved 150 Horsepower and 375 Nm of torque. Priced at THB 559,000 for the best price in its class.

    · Open Cab 2.2L Turbo XL+ 4x2 Hi-Rider with 6-speed Manual Transmission: The best price in the open cab Hi-Rider segment at THB 649,000. Features 16” alloy wheels and is full of convenient features.

    · Open Cab 2.2L VG Turbo XLS 4x2 Hi-Rider with 6-speed Automatic Transmission: The best value in the open cab automatic transmission Hi-Rider segment at THB 739,000.

    · Open Cab 2.2L Turbo XLS 4x4 with 6-speed Manual Transmission: The best price 4x4 pickup truck on the market at THB 759,000.

the only reason a person buys a ranger is because they think it makes their dick look bigger - they are closet homosexuals

every since it came out it has set the benchmark for unreliability , problems and sh1t service

even the tata is better value

I think Ford pickups were more reliable when they were Mazdas.

One day someone will produce a simple, comfortable pickup, with 4 doors, aircon and power steering but nothing else. no USB, no blue tooth, no ridiculous sound system, no completely unnecessary heads up display or any other such shiny silly shit.

Just totally reliable with a life span of 50 years.

Yes agree a pickup is for working on the farm, all the gadgets are totally not required.

^ when/if I come back to Thailand full time then I'll check the Ford, Toyota and Izuza pickups at that time and make a decision. May keep the old Honda for the missus, hopefully no need to trade her in... Although, the little Honda HRV may also be a nice cheap option. Because the Honda has been excellent for over 6 years, I'm kinda tempted to stick with the brand if at all possible.

555 True. Think the actual colour was called "Pride Orange" or something.

    ^ That, or burnt orange...

is white the new black still, in LOS? (i.e white still the must have color?)

I had a new BT50 for a year or so - before I sold it for a car...

Never again, such a hassle to park, very dangerous in the wet, etc... sure, a bit more refined than previous gen

and it does give you a commanding view of the road, but still had that agricultural/harsh feel, never again..

If I were to live in Toyland again, I'd probably buy a near new CRV or new Altis...

Leave the trucks for the farmers and wannabe tough guys.

*That being said, I probably should have paid a bit more and got a Hilux with the D4D engine - that lots of your blokes have.
I hear after it's broken in, it's suspension is more car-like..

Leaf springs to the rear will always mean a shit ride other than in the boonies where no one would really care too much or someone committed to carting heavy loads regularly.
As a means of getting from point A to point B and general motoring around the urban landscape a pick up is a choice for the pretentious, for the novice on his first, wanting to indulge a long held fantasy born of the Beverly Hillbillies, or an idiot.

Well put, SA... tend to agree I suppose... although I did have an old Ford Ranger 2002? XLT.. that was one of the best vehicles I have ever had.

Much much better than the more modern BT50...

and yes, I know...Ford and Mazda are one and the same (pretty much)...

What a load of rubbish. You two old ladies keep driving your cars and leave the pickups to the men.

On a lighter note I don't agree regarding the BT-50 handling. It's a pleasure to drive, but not for in town.

Youve just described the Toyota duel cab Landcruiser, Admittedly not all that comfortable on a long drive but as a work horse can't be beaten imho, Parts can be a hassle to get in Lao though. Drove Rangers , land rovers , Nissan nevarra on the minesite , didn't like any of them. Gimme a Landcruiser everytime

Pickup will last a hell of a lot longer on these shitty roads. My 2007 CRV feels better than our 2015 Accord which doesn't like the shitty tarmac at all. Wish I'd kept the Pajero!

I was at the Lao offroad meet This weekend, quite a good turnout and all sorts of different classes of 4 wheelers, There were some really old model cruisers that looked like the owners had spent a bit of money on, went very well on the track to, rained hard all weekend so they all got put through there paces, will post up some pics when I get a chance, There was plenty of eye candy to, but only for Nancy boys
