    need some advice.

i am planning on riding a motorcycle from Hua Hin to pattaya and i am not sure of the road rules when transiting through Bangkok by bike.
i have done the trip heaps of times in a car but this is my first time by bike.
can anybody help with some advice as to what roads i am not allowed to ride on ?

You're not allowed on tollways, that's it.
Avoid any direction pointed out by a blue sign, as blue signs lead to tollways

This one is good if you are familiar with Bangkok, Sathorn, Rama IV, Sukhumvit etc. But DO NOT turn right on Rama IV and follow 3109
Rot Fai road (it is one of the worst roads in Bangkok, chock-a-block with trucks)) . Continue on Rama IV and turn right at Sukhumvit.

This one is quicker but the last bit on Sukhumvit has traffic.

This one is a bit more scenic and has a motorbike ferry.

The last little bit if you are really unsure.

Better to think inside the pub, than outside the box?
I apologize if any offence was caused. unless it was intended.

Rule of Thumb: You can ride a bike on any shitty old road in Thailand, but you are not allowed to ride a bike on any quality high-speed roads (that charge) in Thailand.

    Capiche ?

Use the google maps app, change the settings to not take "highways", "tollways" and "expressways"

Pop in the headphones and chill the fuck out

Just try and avoid the Bang Na Chonburi rd the one under the toll road.
There are many unmarked humps in that road hit one unaware could be messy.
We got the wrong bus a few years ago and it took that route scared the shit out of me.
Not sure what bike your riding but that road isn't very nice but its okay once you get to the outskirts of Chonburi.

You know what mate, they've got rid of most of those death traps.

10 years ago I would agree that having an X Games ramp without warning on an unlit, un-medically serviced, psychotic "motorway" was indeed de rigeuer

But they've scraped most of the jumps off these days.

Incidentally, I highly recommend everyone living here to buy off-road bikes and stick slicks on. The suspension, while designed for off-roading, is actually exactly what you require to deal with the horrendous physical road quality here (in the city - some fucking great roads up north ).
First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.

And after that, you can go down the pub.

The easiest way across the river from Hua Hin to Pattaya is the Phra Pradeang ferry.
Hwy 35 which turns into Rama 2, right turn were Rama 2 ends. Then navigate the map.
Very easy to miss the turn off and end up arguing with the motorway popo. I know the hard way.
