1st official state visit to the forest from her eminence the ambassador for Sudan. Too steamy and warm to light the BBQ.
I still have not got the hang of my new upgraded turbo-charged oven element and I keep burning the pizzas. But like a proper gent I ate the more burned half.

She is teaching me a few bits and pieces from the Arabic alphabet. I love learning new alphabets. They are like code breaking puzzles for me. I have mastered Thai, Khmer and Russian over the decades so far. I can't converse in any of these languages but I can read the signs in movies and TV. Arabic is in a different league of difficult. I am always impressed by Nev's ability to read it.
The country's name in Arabic is Alsudan which is Arabic for 'land of the black people'
^ Green owed.
Ask your lady friend ( بنت السودان ) to teach you the difference between sun letters and moon letters in Arabic. Then you should be able to pronounce "Alsudan" (and other similar constructions, such as 'the car' / السيارة) more accurately than most English speakers. May the force be with you, brother.

This former ambulance on FB today would be quite collectible
Volkswagen Type 2 Ambulance T1, 1966
Production of the ambulance version of V-front vans from December 1951-1967.
Differences from conventional models include a fresh air trap mounted above the windshield with 2 fans installed, ceiling grab rails, luggage space, 6 frosted glass windows, extra shelves and cabinets, a stretcher table for transporting patients.
On the roof signs, lights and sirens. There is a glass partition between the driver's cabin and the cabin, and the ambulance's tailgate has reinforced bottom hinges that allow the stretcher to be moved from behind.
Wiki: An ambulance model was added in December 1951 which repositioned the fuel tank in front of the transaxle, put the spare tire behind the front seat, and added a "tailgate"-style rear door

This biography is a terrific read, as are Burtons journals detailing his journeys.Captain Sir Richard Francis Burton: The Secret Agent Who Made the Pilgrimage to Mecca, Discovered the Kama Sutra and Brought the Arabian Nights to the West

A New York Times best-seller when it was first published, Rice's biography is the gripping story of a fierce, magnetic, and brilliant man whose real-life accomplishments are the stuff of legend.
Rice retraces Burton's steps as the first European adventurer to search for the source of the Nile; to enter, disguised, the forbidden cities of Mecca and Medina; and to travel through remote stretches of India, the Near East, and Africa. From his spying exploits to his startling literary accomplishments (the discovery and translation of the Kama Sutra and his seventeen-volume translation of Arabian Nights), Burton was an engrossing, larger-than-life Victorian figure, and Rice's splendid biography lays open a portrayal as dramatic, complicated, and compelling as the man himself.
