I am gonna get in trouble. Let someone teach you how to drive. I will do it. Its not you I am worried about its the other people. My last accident was not my fault I was hit from behind by an unaware driver.
Please dont be so stubborn. I feel the same about my wife and she has been driving for 25 years.
My kids are scared to drive with her and she calls me the bad driver.

Oh yes such a good idea.

I know what I am going to do today I am going to teach myself how to kill people in a motorized shopping trolley. That is what you drive isn't it.

Automatic, power steering, 1500cc - its just a fucking big go-kart but its not being used on the safety of a track with crash walls around you. Human beings and cars are the crash walls around you. At least if you have learnt how to drive you can make sure that it is not your fault.

I don't really care if I am in the passenger seat of the car with you or not GoW but you are a fairly nice person I don't really want to read a RIP on the board just due to pure stuborness by yourself.

Oh yes the public internet forums privacy policies. Yes I remember now that everything is private.

If its your driving then it is my business as it is any other member who is at risk from this general ignorant attitude towards driving in Thailand.

A few more educated drivers on the road an only be a good thing

I class myself as a pretty good driver, no accidents yet.

Then again I started driving when I was 6 years old.

I would presume by that post then that you are attempting to take the focus away from your ignorance and onto your ability to count.

The following link gives you good tips on driving safely.

    Safe Driving

    Such as
    Aggressive Driving

What is aggressive driving? Aggressive driving is the operation of a motor vehicle in a manner that endangers or is likely to endanger persons or property. Persons doing any of the following may be committing acts of aggressive driving.
    Speeding
Running red lights and stop signs
    Tailgating
Passing on the shoulder of the road
    Cutting off another vehicle
Slamming on brakes in front of a tailgater
Improper hand or facial gestures at other drivers
    Yelling
    Repeatedly honking the horn
    Repeatedly flashing of headlights

My point exactly mate - education is the key.

Its much like Africans and AIDS trying to get them to understand the use of condoms and one partner relationships.

I don't know what you are all bitching about. Apart from Songkhran, when everybody and his dog is pissed out of their brains, I haven't seen any worse driving in Thailand than in the UK. In fact I would go out on a limb to say that the overall level of consideration and acceptance given to other motorists is far higher than the UK.

That goes double for motorbikes - accept that the rule is 'little always gives way to big' - but at least Thai motorists have grown up on bikes and recognise them as fellow road users. Over here when you get on a motorbike you might as well be wearing a fucking invisibility cloak.
    Lord, deliver us from e-mail.

You obviously don't know what you are talking about. Thailand has one of the deaths per capita on the road and that's not just because of Songkran.
Drunk driving, reckless driving, speeding, too many motorcycles, unsafe vehicles, the list goes on and on. And then there are uneducated drivers who bought their licenses for just 500 Baht, if they even have one.

I beg to differ. Apart from Songkhran, which I agree is a nightmare, I still maintain that there is either no difference or a worse level of driving in the UK.

If there are less deaths in the UK it is due to the fact that in many places it is impossible to achieve a speed sufficient to actually kill yourself, not because the standard is higher.

And before you ask, I have driven everything from articulated trucks to mopeds.

You're still talking out of your arse though. The speeds are higher in the UK (we don't all live in and around London), but the drivers are miles better and the cars are subject to an MOT, there's less drink driving and more (if not too much) law enforcement.

A cursory google came up withthese figures from 1998 so keep in mind that they are 7 years out of date but it would seem that there is not a significant difference between Europe and Asia in terms of collated figures of road deaths.

I wouldn't lump Europe in with the UK anyway Cap. Most Europeans are nearly as bad as the Asians at driving.
