What are folks paying for their tyres?

I know we've had a few threads like this in the past, but prices and situations change, so I just wanted to: 1) get a heads up from folks who know better than I; 2) give info of my experience today.

The Honda City is about three and a half years old, average mileage, but the missus has been known to hit curbs, walls, other vehicles, pretty much anything; taking chunks out of the tyres, etc...

I wanted to change the tyres last year, but the missus wanted to save money... Now, the tyres are so bad that even she is prepared to change them (zooming 140kph in the rain up rama 2 is standard for her). So, she changed all 4 today (wouldn't get 5 as I suggested, wanted to save money...). She paid 10,000 baht for 4 new Dunlops (not sure exactly which ones), they also had Goodyear at 8,000 baht. I think the place is a bit cheaper than normal because they take in the new cars from folks like Failsafe, and pimp out the rims/tyres; thus we effectively got unused secondhand tyres.

What kinda prices have folks been paying for tyres?

Just checked with the missus, she says the car has just over 30,000kms now.

Don't know Betty, but TGF payed 65,000b for a set 22" rims with some Tyres 22" X 285.
Never let here do that again, the Tyre pressure 50psi bloody hard ride.

Oh Dil's giddy aunt! My first 2 or 3 cars in the UK were cheaper than that!

I haven't bought tyres in Thailand before, but I think the main dealers were asking for about 5,000 baht per tyre. I think... Maybe that was a special foreigner price.

Just as well. Believe the spare is not same size as the rest. Won't fit in the trunk (aka boot)

10,000 baht for 4 new tires sounds reasonable.

My truck with 84K km on the clock was starting to give a little hootchie cootchie in the front end so I mosied on down to the Michelin place and dropped 26,800 THB a couple of weeks ago on 4 Cross Terrain tires. That included balancing and free rotation after 10k km.

Reckoned I'd stick with the same tires that came on the truck when new which lasted >3 years and 84K km.

As in most anything else, you get what you pay for.

I checked the list price on the same tires I bought here at the Michelin store vs what they ran in the States - 20 bucks per tire cheaper here in LOS than there.

Couldn't find 'em any cheaper on Ebay either.

Price is OK, but 30,000 kms from the first set in pretty woeful, should have got at least 50,000 out of them. Although if, as you say your Mrs. drives like Fangio, then maybe that's all that could be expected from them.

Meh I was prepared to buy a set of tyres for 100k (25k each) to put on my old 20" rims, I was there with the cash but the dealer would not even let me look at them before buying them.

I wanted to sit 1 beside my Ranger to see what lift I would need (3 inch or 5 inch) which I explained I would buy through him as well...

Idiot wouldn't have it so he lost the sale.

I went next door and purchased a set of 22's with tyres instead.

Are they real Dunlops?

2 for my motorbike cost more than that and they need changing every 12-15k km (which is relatively long for a motorbike).

Bike tires are more expensive.

I recently changed to Michelin Pilot Sport 3 and they are feckin great because they were free!

I got 84K km on that first set of Michelins.
