CBs arent really the same style because they look old and haven't really changed over the years...where as the Kawasaki Zeds have been around for 40 years and look at how the style has moved with the times. My old man had a Zed from the 70s and its hilarious trying to compare, but that's what I love..my Z800 looks like batman's fckin motorbike.

Try reading one recent review of the FZ-09 (there will be a major one in every magazine that deals with sportbikes) instead of watching one short video that actually doesn't tell you much except for some raw numbers and didn't go beyond stock configuration, and perhaps you'll actually learn something and be able to post somewhat knowledgeably on a motorcycle for a change.
Though there's no real chance of that, is there...?

Seems a bit unfair to criticize somebody just because they haven't seen a good review on the Yamaha! This is a Z800 thread, and most of us can accept that the Z800 is a great bike which is cheap here in Thailand. Your 'take my word for it as i know all about motorbikes as I have seen long videos' attitude strikes me as somewhat biased.
I weigh 75 kgs and have been riding less than 10 years and I have no problem on the 230kg bike..Even in the towns it's fine.

Thanks, newb, but I've been dealing with this dummy for years, and I'm fully aware of what the thread is about (I'm the one who posted your pics for you)- he knows nothing about bikes, but that doesn't stop him from making stupid posts and insulting others (though I noticed you didn't feel that was worthy of comment as he favors your bike- I think you're a bit more than 'somewhat biased'). Please try to fully read and comprehend posts before commenting on them- my bike weighs more than yours and I have no problem with it- that's beside the point that most riders are very concerned with curb weight.
I mentioned to Rick that he should check out the FZ-09, and you had a problem with that- you seem to feel the need to defend your purchase rather than objectively view the current market, which includes bikes that have only recently become available in LOS.
The Z800 is an excellent buy for the money- there are other bikes in its price range that are worthy of consideration, and there are considerably better bikes if you're willing to pay for them.
I based my opinion on having read half a dozen reviews- YouTube videos aren't nearly as detailed or informative- hence, I have a fair grasp of what I'm talking about- that isn't 'bias', but, rather, it's being informed- see the difference? I know about bikes because I bother to learn about them.

It's not being naive- it's easy to tell who knows what they're talking about and who doesn't by what they post, and also by the facts and numbers they toss out- when I see something posted that's not only incorrect but is also easily verifiable if the poster bothered to do his due diligence and check his info, I tend to treat them accordingly.
I don't suffer fools gladly (not saying you're a fool, though I am saying BB is- he posts to give me shit rather than actually trying to be informative- if you're here long enough, you'll see what I'm talking about- he's even worse when it comes to automobiles).

I've got a 2013 ZX-14R, and I've got a deposit on an HP4- I might end up canceling the BMW, though, as my planned retirement and move further north has likely been postponed by at least six months, and I wouldn't have as much time to ride as I thought I'd have in 2014.

If the 1290 had been priced properly (which would be about 300K less than it's currently priced) based on US MSRP, I probably would have ordered one- right now, it's the same price as the HP4 Competition (the upgrade from the HP4 Standard pictured above) when it retails for over $7,000 less than the Comp in the States- great bike, but KTM is gouging us here in LOS about 25% beyond what import taxes dictate- for the same money, the HP4 Competition is an easy choice.
I have until the end of the month to make my decision- I might just wait until the next Motor Expo over the summer and see what's available- I had the chance to put some miles on an S1000RR recently, and my back and shoulder (which have been degrading the last few years) really took a beating- I might have to face the fact that I can no longer take the torture rack that is a modern literbike...
I see BMW have launched the S1000R which is the same Liter engine in a naked bike. Looks awesome and would certainly be more ergonomically practical.
There's a review of it in Feb 14 Performance Bikes.
Not sure of Thai prices but if it 's 10,000GBP then it will prob be around 1mb.
It's a nice bike, and it's gotten excellent reviews- I may check it out, but there's no word yet on the LOS release- it might not be until 2015.
I'd guess it will be closer to 900K- the S1000RR is just under a mil, and I would assume the base S1000R will be cheaper (though if it comes in with the optional DDC suspension, it will almost certainly break 1mil).
It's been tuned for more mid-range (though less peak) power than the S1000RR- it would be a smarter choice for the street.

Captain America is from New York and follows three main precepts: 1) New York is best; 2) Bigger is better; 3) Captain America is NEVER wrong.
He is a good poster, and can be fun, but has a rather inflated opinion of his expertise and what opinions others should be allowed to have...
The fact remains, regardless of what nonsense Captain America spurts out, that in Thailand the Kwaka that you bought is excellent value for an excellent bike. The Yamaha may be preferred by him, but generally this is not the case according to most expert reviews, and, considering the extra cost of the Yamaha, the Kwaka is to most people in Thailand a better buy...
