Any downsides to having out of province rego?

Getting a new truck. The misssus wants to get it in bkk even though we are in NS.
The reason? "They" say you will get pulled over less in NS if you have bkk plates on the car....

Any downside in terms of serviceing, insurance, annoying rego related admin issues that would require unneeded trips to bkk to complete?

just being a farang can get you hassled.
everything would be more expensive in the Bangkok surely
hassle of going there if there's a problem
