Just got back from a meeting in Bangers, and because of the time and distance involved, had to stay overnight.

I traveled in a group of 18, 17 Thais and myself, and on arrival in Bangers checked into the pre-booked hotel.
We were 2 to a room, so we had 9 rooms, all identical and on the same floor.

At checkout early next morning, "The Boss", whom i had shared rooms with pulled out his wad to pay the bill:-
8 rooms @ Bht1,200.
1 room @ Bht1,800.

At no time was i asked to pay, it was obvious at the outset that the bill was being settled by the Thai boss.
He was a bit miffed as to why the bill was so, and the staff explained that i was an alien and must be charged foreigner rate.

After much discussion a face saver was reached.
They knocked 200 baht off the rate for my shared room, so the boss only had to pay 400 baht more for the privilege of sharing a room with an alien.

It is no secret that dual pricing exists in Thailand. It makes no difference who ulimately pays this difference. The issue is that it exists and should not.

Do not worry, I understand things will never change with regard to extracting as much money because we are from another country. However,it is amusing that they even screw their own by using this ploy.
