And, yes, it's Lao. Unfortunately, Google has no Lao translator so we'll just have to got with the Barracuda's optical heads.

I am sure that google has no translator that will do the job of translating Lao in thai script into something intelligeble.
Lao has a script all of it`s own.

It's Isan-Lao rather than Lao... not that there's much difference... it's all bumpkinese to Bangkokers.

Yes, so some bangkokians claim.

But they have had plenty of exposure to Lao in in the ever so popular slapstick comedy and stand up shows, where Lao seems to be the main ingredient to ridicule the Isan population.

I don`t buy that they don`t understand.
Lao is not so different from central thai and any native speaker of thai with just a bit experience of Lao will understand it just fine.

There are plenty of non native speakers of thai in here who understand lao as well.
