    Hi everyone,

    I am trying to correctly translate the following thai statements. I am not sure if Google translate is putting the meaning in context.

    1.
    ออ เดวไปถามรัตน์ก้อได้ ว่างก้อมาเม๊าท์มอยสิอยากเจอ

    2.
    มันหย่ายเองช่วยมะล่าย อิอิ

    Many thanks.

    It is written very poorly in Thai, and using a teenage language.

    1. Oh I can go ask Rat, when you have free time come talk to me, I want to see you.

    2. Second is worse, I cant help him EE!! Part my kids cant even read in number 2.

    It's written in Loas and my missus says that in #2 they say that the person they're talking about (I assume Rat) is scared and can't help.

    Well, I can say with 100% certainty that it's not written in "Loas" <sic>.. The poser, err poster "superman" probably meant written in Lao.. Seeing as it's using Thai script it can't be the Lao language which has its own script, lol...

    It is also written as "chat speak" Thai. That's where words are purposely misspelled to better match the intonation in which they're spoken colloquially.
    With the words spaced out correctly, you can get a better idea of the constructs;

    ออ เดว ไป ถาม รัตน์ ก้อได้ ว่าง ก้อ มา เม๊าท์มอย สิ อยาก เจอ

    The first word ออ is just a sound which carries the same meaning as "Oh" in English. There are a couple of misspellings too; making any translation program almost worthless. ก้อได้ is really ก็ได้ because ก้อ is written in chat how it's pronounced in real life. เม๊าท์มอย is really spelled as เม้าธ์มอย.. The first word is the English word "mouth" meaning talk/chat. The compound word เม้าธ์มอย means to chat/talk steadily, continually, often, etc. That gives us something like; "Ohh, เดว goes, went and asks, asked รัตน์ as well, if they've got free time come and talk (I) want to meet." (I wasn’t sure about the tense of the verbs).

    It would appear that there are at least two names in the first construct เดว and รัตน์, although I could be wrong.

    The second construct is;
    มัน หย่าย เอง ช่วย มะล่าย อิอิ
    The first word มัน is "it". หย่าย is a misspelling of the word ใหญ่ used in chat-speak a lot because it's easier to type (as you don't use the shift key). เอง is usually "one's self, or on its own". It actually goes with the word มัน as in มันเอง meaning "itself". The next word ช่วย is "help". Next is มะล่าย a Thai-chinese word or what I call "Thai-nese" and is how some Thais pronounce ไม่ได้ as in "can not", it's used in chat speak a LOT. The last is just a cutesey way Thais laugh by saying "ee-ee". So in the end we have "It's big, in its own right, I can't help, ee-ee"!

    I could totally be wrong, after all I'm not a native speaker, and isolated "chat-rips" are some of the hardest to parse out because the Thai language relies totally on context. Seeing as we have only two random sentences, it's a tough row to hoe really.

    Anyway, sorry this was long, didn't mean to turn it into a Thai language lesson. Still, perhaps it helped.

    ^Where you been hiding? Pretty complete literal interpretation if you ask me. Native speaker or not you hit this one out of the ball park.
