That sentence illustrates just how much engrish has crept into thai nowadayz..
แล้วคุณคิดถึงไอมั้ย = And you, miss I?
The use of the engrish "I" (ไอ) as a first person pronoun in thai is now wide spread, as evidenced by the title of that corny hit movie ไอฟาย..แต๊งกิ้ว..เลิฟยู้:"I fine, thank you, love you"..
However , because the word for I/me/my in thai is the same, thaiz routinely use I insteada me.
"Whoever said `Money can`t buy you love or joy` obviously was not making enough money." <- quote by Gene $immon$ of the rock group KISS
A bit rich you bemoaning bastardisation of a language.Originally Posted by toddaniels
Just an FYI there "kingwilly"..
To me a language is a living entity. It either evolves and changes based on the demands of the users or it dies a slow lingering death. The powers that be ไดโนเสาร์เต่าล้านปี (dinosaur/million year old turtles; but thai for "old school, hard headed m/f's who won't change") entrusted with the alleged preservation of the thai language have tried for eons to stifle its growth, to limit the changes under the guise of somehow if the language changes the thaiz will lose their thai-ness. <- that's b/s because you can't beat thai-ness outta these people with a stick, believe me I've tried...
Thankfully the thai youth of today pays no attention to those warnings. They warp thai, change its spelling, change meanings and incorporate ANY word from ANY language which has meaning to them. In short, they are developing the language however they see fit.
So no, I'm most definitely not bemoaning the bastardization of a language..
Instead I'm applauding the progression of thai from an archaic clunky language which has been in the need of an overhaul for centuries into something that works for the populace using it...
เก็ทไหม <- that's thai for "Got it?" using the english word "get" in thai..
Then it has a blurter...Withnall?...Originally Posted by toddaniels
