    Bangkok English Lessons Wanted

    Hi all,

The SIL wants to apply for a Working Holiday Visa for Australia this year, to do that she needs to achieve a minimum 4.5 on her IELTS. She is currently sitting at 4.0 after a recent practice test.

The mrs and I live in Australia so the only real English conversation the SIL gets is with me over the phone. The MIL put her through an English course in Bangkok recently which was a waste of time as the teacher was Thai and had a lower level of English than the SIL.

Can anyone please advise of a reputable English course in Bangkok where the teacher is a native English speaker? Preferably offering IELTS preparation lessons???

    Appreciate your help,

That`s a great idea, having to speak the language before you arrive in a country to work. They should do that in the UK.

Strongarm, first of all is she willing to study for 12 or 13 weeks 3 hours on a Saturday or twice a week during the week. Saturdays are 9-12 or 1-4, the weekday classes are 5:30 to 7pm.

But she must be willing to work at this. Up to 70% of students from Thailand taking the IELTS expect to pass because they have paid.

Venue Kasetart University, Next start date is not until mid April but its a very good program with good teachers. The material is all up to date and she will be given the opportunity to take practice tests. The costs are very fair and the class size will be about 15 or so.

If she is motivated she will succeed but most drop out as you cant learn a language without trying and you often cant learn in in just 3 months. 4.5 is quite a low score so I hope she can.
