Last night the Singapore police were called out to investigate an Englishman alledgedly stealing electricity in the city centre. When the police arrived they found Mr Fat sitting on the pavement operating his computer which was plugged into the City Corporation street lighting circuit.
Mr Fat had apparently been ejected from his home by his wife and had been unable to find accommodation.
"The last place I stayed" said Mr Fat, "the kitchen was full of cockroaches, I couldn't live there"
The police were unable to charge Mr Fat with vagrancy as he is currently employed as a ships officer.
He was offered a cell for the night but declined the offer as it didn't have wifi and Mr Fat was concerned about letting his friends down at Teakdoor.
The City Council will decide tomorrow whether to press charges for illegally connecting to the grid and using an estimated 7baht of electricity.
