    HIV/AIDS test

I've never been one for whoring or a overly promiscuous life style; I like having one girlfriend for a year or two and then moving on but I have never been one for using prophylactics and have had an assignation or two which could be characterised as high risk. I'm getting to the age where you start to think of life plans as more than the next few weeks and have begun to consider having an AIDS test. Has anyone had one done? How long do they take? Has anyone here got AIDS? Should I get one done?

Takes 15 minutes, it becomes the most terryfying 15 minutes of your life as you think back to all the bareback times you have had as you wait for your results, luckily its a pooves disease though

You really need to cut down on the drugs, mate.
The test itself involves taking a blood sample. Results same day - private clinic in India; or a week later - St.Thomas, London. All anonymous, if you wish.

^post above, maybe 15 minutes these days, haven't been for ages, in London they told me more or less to shove off and not to worry with my life-style.

^ I had HIV and all the STD tests several years back in HK when I was still the corporate girl. Why? I just thought it wa a sensible thing to do. When I requested them, the Aussie doctor couldn't believe I wanted to take then. The idiot said, "But what if you test HIV positive?" Geez!
The results took a week there, too. I'm sure you can get the test done in a day in Thailand. I've seen signs for them at the nursing clinics.
Go do it, MD if it will put your mind at rest. It's called personal maitenance.

You've got me all wrong Stroller. I only talk about drugs on TD becuase I never talk about them in real life. I haven't taken an illegal drug in four months old boy. Speed can make one insanely horny but only a proper girlfriend will put up with you shagging her for 10 hours.

mate, you in BKK right? go to any hospital, test result same day. cost about 600 baht, i guess.

BUT, AND THIS IS VERY BLOODY IMPORTANT,

the results are 3 months out of date, so you must return in 3 months to get retested to ensure that you hadnt been exposed the day before the test for instance.

^ Correct; that's the antibody test.

However there is another (and more expensive) test that tests for the virus particle itself that is considered more accurate. You can get it at Bumrungrad.

Had it done a couple of times. Also had at least one check for "all" STDs and (the most recent) one for Hep C, after I found out that bf had it when he died. Easy, painless (if you don't mind needles) & efficient.

Good idea for ladies to check for chlamydia as well. It can have virtually no symptoms at all until it wrecks your plumbing further down the track.

I had a nip girl a few years back. We met in Aus when she was on holiday and I went to Tokyo to see her a couple of times. Last time she visited we had a parting of the ways and she left in a strop. She left some medicine in the fridge which sat there for a week unnoticed. When I spotted it I was curious so I googled 'boromycin'. The search results said 'HIV anti-viral agent'. My blood ran cold. She must be HIV+. We had been goin at it without raincoats for 2 weeks and before then. I spent 24 hours in solemn contemplation of my mortality. Unable to work, eat or sleep. My head filled with questions. How this was going to affect the (presumably shortened) rest of my life. Was I obliged to tell my employers. Was it better to tell my folks or not. I had been with this girl on a holiday basis for 2 years. Did I have to go to my other liasons and tell them about the danger.

After struggling with question after question for a day and a night I noticed that I had got one letter in the spelling wrong when I read the label. Turns out 'Borymycin' is an anti-biotic used to treat infections with beneficial effects for inflammatory arthritis. I almost passed out with gratitude at my reprieve. I have also since heard that hetero HIV transmission is more difficult than I thought at the time.

Spending 24 hours in contemplation of what you sincerely believe is your impending demise is a revealing experience which I highly recommend.

If you just go for a general medical you automatically get HIV tested anyway.
Frankly, you've got more chance of demising from Hep B.

Yes it is a "pooves disease" as DD so eloquently put it, but heteros still get it. However, I have been told that it is extremely difficult to get, especially if you're circumcized. I've never had it done. Too bloody scared. My g/f had it done about a year ago and she was all clear so I figure I'm the same since we had been doing it bareback for some time.

are you scared because of your actions in the past.

I cannot understand why people would not want to know - decisions have a chance of being good if they are based on the truth.
