If there is no fracture, she shouldn't need a splint or a sling either.
I'm doing my best to understand all this Lily.Originally Posted by Lily

Put her in a splint.
I'm no expert Lily and I'm tired of arguing with them.
Bendy arms, oh thats bad! same thing happened to that guy from the awesome 4!
Glad to hear that your beloved is okay CMN.
Is the hospital you mention the one facing the 'central moat', near to the junction that leads to Central?
Glad to hear your wife is doing better. Let's see the xray!

Get her to a real doc pronto!
Although I am cynical about all things that happen in Thailand, I wonder if the situation you are in could be due to a lack of good English skills? I mean, if the docs were suggesting some expensive surgery or something, well, I would be more inclined to believe they might lead someone astray.
But, in the case where your wife is Thai, maybe they didn't have the need to give her a doc who spoke English well, and he/she therefore just made a mistake?
Does anyone know if the docs at this hospital get paid the same as a government job, or do they make more/get a percentage of their work? I sort of had this idea that the Thai government often pays for their docs schooling, even when outside the country, but then they owe some amount of years to work for a somewhat low wage. And then some docs open a private practice that is only open at night or weekends, or something, in order to make better money.
It would really suck to find out that you can't even have the most basic trust in doctors here! Of course doctors in my country can earn a percentage of the work they do, or as owners of a practice, they of course get profits, when they are profitable. But since my country has very strict laws re malpractice, and has an insurance system that does its best to pay for nothing, the doctors don't have too much freedom, and they also make enough money that maybe they don't need to be corrupt in order to make a decent living.
Thai doctors may also make a decent living, comparable to the cost of living here, and the fact that they don't have to pay for their schooling most of the time, but as this is Thailand, corruption may seem to be no problem for them? If everyone else is doing it, why should doctors, who usually see themselves as the cream of society, why should they be honest and earn less than a bar girl?
Just some thoughts but if anyone actually knows how it works here, I would be happy to know and would be happy to be able to make better medical decisions for myself, based on that sort of info.
Be careful ChMN, if you are going to go legal with this, because these doctors dont like grassing each other up. And they have memories.
You must find someone out of their realm, who can varify your wife's x-ray.
The main thing is that your good lady wife is OK.
Next time she goes out for a spin on the bike or in the car, tell her to leave the dogs alone, and go for a doctor.(I know the one you'll pick)
Good luck mate.![]()
I just wanna say that in Canada, I had some perfectly healthy teeth "fixed" by a crook Dentist. My mom (long time ago) was suspicious, so she took me for a second opinion. I think people beleive that it may not happen outside Thailand, but it does. Personally, I don't trust'em.
Seems like a bad encounter with the wrong doctor, the docs are just trying to be safe to xray, but they are trying to make moneyout of the cast.. x ray can be obtain on the day itself in 1 hrs time... you might want to have a look before any more decision is make.. thats the right track.
for all to comments
You definitely need to get a second opinion on the x-rays like Choochie said.
If you can borrow a baby you could leave them on a street corner with a begging bowl for a couple of hours a day to cover medical costs. Would probably turn a nice little profit into the bargain. Perhaps even have the cast cut along the back where its out of sight so it can be slipped on and off as required. Now thats thinking like a Thai.
If you want to prove your point. Get another X-ray at another Hospital.
If it is as you think then e-mail every English newspaper in Thailand and tell them your story. Also contact TITV channel 6 they love stories like this and will follow up with a investigation.

I hope your Wife is doing better.
^ Why bother with the medication if it's not broken? Just take pain killers if she's in pain.
Get a second opinion.
