It took mine ages. The hole left by the wisdom tooth didn't fill in for over a year with me. I can't remember how long the pain lasted though.

Shouldn’t be more than a week. I had three removed.

You might consider having it looked at by a different doctor if it persists.

    go and see a dentist
sometimes on extraction of a wisdom tooth the bone can be left exposed if they have not sutured the wound correctly
    Dangerous!

I had all of mine removed when I was a teenager; recovery time was a couple of days. It might be harder when you are older; I would agree that you should consider going to another dentist to have him/her take a look if the pain persists after ten days or so. That seems too long unless something is wrong, or it was very intrusive surgery.

The wisdom tooth was nearly horizontal moving into the tooth next to it, hence 2 teeth out, i ain't had no bleeding just the gum still hurts like fok.

I had a couple taken out, lot pain too. You can double up on paracetomal and ibeprophen as they both work in different ways. Failing that try to get a doctor to proscribe codine or a synthetic equivelent, as its a perscrption only drug in thailand.

I went straight down to a bar in Soi Yodsak after I had mine removed and let alcohol be my medicinal crutch.

A fair bit of blood spitting so that bucket I had on my head come in real handy.

The little Thai lady dentist who took mine out didn't want to do the removal instead telling me to go to Bangkok Pattaya hospital but I ended up convincing her and all for 300 Baht.

When I had one removed as a youngish chap I was in the chair for nearly an hour as the dentist struggled to extract it. In the end he broke it in several pieces. The wound was then stitched up but he did warn me as the swelling increased so would the pain. Hardly surprising given the bruising and in fact the side of my face swelled to a degree I scarcely thought possible. Pain was horrendous and I couldn't sleep or eat for a week except dribbling the odd cuppa soup. The swelling didn't subside completely for about 2 weeks but in truth it took a good few weeks more before I was truly over the trauma.

Keep it clean with plenty of salt water mouthwashes and try to rest your jaw. Don't eat anything you need to chew. The extraction of a lower wisdom tooth really does hammer it, bruising the bone, muscles and irritating the nerves.

Imagine getting shot in the lower jaw?

it would all depend on how the tooth was impacted

could be several weeks before you get back to normal

look on the bright side, you will get so used to the discomfort that you will miss the pain once it heals

But you will probably get peas, sweetcorn and bits of food stuck in the hole. So keep it clean.

It took a little over a week for the pain to go away when I had a wisdom tooth removed and still some discomfort for a while afterwards.

Not pleasant, hope your pain eases soon.

I had all 4 of mine removed some 40 years ago. 2 ea on 2 different trips. They healed fine but as I recall there was one that needed some extra gauze packed into the hole that the tooth was pulled out of. Hurt like hell. Dentist told me to keep the air off of it by having the gauze repacked in there 4 or 5 times a day. As the gums grew back over the hole the gauze was no longer necessary.

Daughter had hers removed about 13 years ago. She did it with out any difficulty and was back at school the next day.

    Oh holy moly that hurts!

I had my impacted wisdom teeth taken out when I was about 20. The doctor did general anesthesia for me and chiseled out all four of them. Can't remember exactly how long it ached, more than a week though, and seemed like forever.

Yep, go back to check and for drugs.

If I have a tooth extracted, the bleeding stops within five minutes. This is because of the composition of my blood. Fortunately, I am not prone to clotting but I acknowledge that a clot will ultimately be the cause of my death, as was the case for my late father. Ordinary cuts and scratches heal very quickly with me, far quicker than the average person.

I was told that it would take five days before stitches need to be removed following a wisdom tooth extraction. That weekend saw me using a razor blade to cut the stitches which had pulled tight causing great pain following the rapid healing. When the dentist examined me at the due date he said that the stitches had been undone due to constant licking with my tongue. This was total bollocks but ensured that I, and my tongue, have been much in demand ever since.

yes, sounds like you have what we call a DRY SOCKET,when you have a tooth pulled it normally forms a blood clot in the hole, and sometimes that clot gets dislodged and then the healing stops and food bacteria etc gets in and makes it hurt like fuck.
    sorry,iam thirsty
so,just google dry socket and read up on it yourself.
    best of luck champ.

You should have your dog stick a little pad in the cavity. It acts like a poultice and sucks all the bad stuff out allowing the gum to heal.

My dentist removed one of mine impacted, under local anaesthetic in my youth,

Can still remember the grinding sensation, but no pain, as the scalpel cut the gum down the tooth .

Then the nurse had my head rigid in her arms while the dentist pulled and tugged at it for what seemed like 10mins to get it out with pliers.

After he said that 10mins hassle had saved me 3 days in hospital and a general aneasthetic.
    Took a while to heal.

Stopped cleaning em for years after
