Ayutthaya/Chang House, Naresuan Soi 1 also known as farang street due to it having a few bars so all the farangs go there to get pissed.

I seem to be spending quite a lot of valueble drinking time at this place and they aint even got girls for rent there, next door to their bar and restaurant they have just opened the "Kru Coffee Shop" the teachers seem to like this place, Laos freshly brewed coffee at 30baht per go does seem quite a good deal though, although the owner makes you sit outside if you want a cigarette, yep another ex smoker gone bad.

Onto the restaurant and bar, now this is quite nice, most people sit outside in the street and it has a projection tv thingy which they have all the sports on, I feel sure he has a fine collection of hardcore porn fims but as the screen is outside the bar he probably wont be willing to show them.

The food here is actually quite good, well Ayutthaya is lacking in competition in farang food and Indian food, I shall probably take a packed lunch next time I have to stay for a few days otherwise it will be eating there or resorting to Thai food everyday.

So Saturday night we decided to snack there and went for the Indian stuff, Chicken Tikka Masala, Vegetarian Samosa's and Popadoms, the masala was 120baht so as you can see this place is real cheap compared to Bangkok, also it was a lot better than most Indian restaurants I have been to, only complaint was there are no condiments to go with the Popadoms

Also if you need to use the bog use the one in the coffee shop as that is a proper one and not one that you have to stand up on.

Roc does have a point, it seems I have mixed up my squat toilet pictures, his squat toilet in Chang House is pale blue and the room is cleaner and he has a concrete trough instead of a plastic bucket, but apart from that it still is a squat toilet, I should mention that there are no instructions for tourists on how to use these type of toilets printed in their toilet, it maybe a good idea for someone to write a tutorial so he can print it out and stick it up in the toilet, generally using these types you do need to take all your clothes off, and quite often you find a reason to use your socks that you had never thought of before coming to Thailand anyway as I suggested earlier stick with having a dump next door at the coffee shop, I had one there this morning and it was a very pleasent experience

Anyway I got a picture of the Indian page of the menu, but the gone bad ex smoker saw and demanded to see my camera so I had to sneak away, anyway here is his coffee shop with his brand new sign.

This is the dog's bollocks. The curry was better than any I've had in Bangkok (except for the Rang Mahal).

Yea I'll back you all up the curry there is very good, best I've tasted here that I have'nt made....should get some basmati rice to go with it but I'm just being picky

A rough guide on how to use a Thai toilet.

Step 1.
Stand on the toilet making sure your kegs are around your ankles.

Step 2.
With your back straight crouch down so your arse is over the hole.

Step 3.
Control and balance is the key,one false move and your gonna fall over and get shit all over yourself.

Step 4.
While taking your crap pissing has to be controlled or you'll be covered in piss.

Step 5.
If you managed all that without breaking a sweat or getting covered in shit,your a f#cking lucky git.

My advice just sit on the thing,we Farang were not born to crouch on the bog!

I went back specially to take yet another picture od roc's squat toilet, as you can see it is a squat toilet with pale blue tiles, and as I mentioned before you will much prefer the proper toilet in the coffee shop, also I should add that smoking is allowed in the coffee shops toilet well I assume it is

Should mention that proper procedure at the squat toilet requires you to take your shoes and pants off, that way you can use the bum-gun to clean your arse.

You may use the walls to keep your balance.

It's not rocket science, but many places don't provide any hooks or nails in the wall where you could hang your clothes, nor are tissues standard - bring your own.

first night in bangers, quite a while ago. into street food. back to the hotel near hulampong station. syomach a gurgling. squat toilet. no instructions, so i squatted. with my wallet in the back pocket of the jeans.
tough decision. leave it there with the 5 odd grand baht and the atm card, or.........
