Thai sandwiches are so bad, they deserve another thread
I was not thinking about them, but surely 7-11 makes sandwiches in the "disgusting" category.
Subway is so bad. The last time I ate there I ordered the "steak" and cheese. I could not eat the meat--smelled and tough as a boot (nuff said).
Dukes: wonderful (nuff said)
Really want to try The Huntsman now (thanks).
Au Bon Pair--agree, pretty good.
Where is the best sub sandwich in town, like an Italian sub? It surely is not at Subway.
^ No idea. Subway is a better bet than any Thai alternative, isn't it? A subway club at the weekend does nicely for me.
I know this one often pops up, but:
I'd love a good Blooms or NY style salt beef doorstoper... Yum.
The Midget's sandwiches are pretty good. Home made rye, lots of cheddar, smoked pig, olives, tomatoes and a bit of mayo (and real butter of course).
Subway was great at 2am after a carton of beer. The bedsheets enjoyed it too.
I missed where The Midget is located.
About Subway being better than Thai sandwiches.....yes, especially the ham (the beef is disgusting). But that is not saying much.
Most of us know what a good sub/hoagie is supposed to taste and look like. Subway does not offer anything close to "good."
The sandwiches at Subway are too small w/ only a small amount of meat.
Sometimes the meat is not fresh (as stated, don't even think about the beef).
The other ingredients are OK and the choice of breads is a good idea
Too little cheese is given and you have to pay extra just to get what a normal sub would have in the first place.
Sandwiches are way overpriced for what you get.
Surely there is a good alternative to such a crappy food chain.
This is turning into another campaign, same as the one against Sunrise Tacos, by Diatonic. Did Sunbelt Asia do you some harm in the past? The criticism seems a bit over the top to me.
I represent that statement.Originally Posted by Marmite the Dog

No, I have nothing against Sunbelt Asia. But I know virtually nothing about Sunbelt Asia other than it does legal work in Thailand.
What does Sunbelt Asia have to do with this thread?
What does Sunbelt Asia have to do with Subway and Sunrise Tacos?
That aside, why are you so sensitive about criticisms of Subway? I don't like the place. So what?
If you love the place, let us know why.
Sunbelt Asia has interests in both Subway and Sunrise Tacos. In the Sunrise Taco thread there was a bit of a flap because of their supporters turned out to be working for Sunbelt so he was accused jokingly of shilling for them. Since you dislike both of them a lot I just asked if you had something against Sunbelt. No offense. I am neutral on Sunbelt. And I really find both Sunrise and Subway to be mediocre.
Then it isn't mayo.Originally Posted by Jet Gorgon

Thanks for that point of clarification. Now I understand the problem with Sunrise Tacos and Subway (of course, others like both places really )
Lawyers who know nothing about making good Mexican food and subs/hoagies are behind both places. There is a link.
Given that both Subway and Sunrise Tacos SUCK, it might be a good idea for a certain law firm to stick with legal stuff and stay out of the restaurant/food chain business.
Can I say anything positive about these two places: Yes....sort of.
Subway: If you are drunk, the Italian sub is not bad, but it is too expensive for what you get.
Sunrise Tacos: The pork can be eaten, but it does not resemble Mexican pork.
Let me just say one more thing:
*Statement is permitted and cannot be expunged or taken under legal consideration as stipulated under international law as directed expo facto ex ante as per verification orders under directives 21.4 and 5987.6 of the legal codes of the states of Stupidity and Ignorance due to failure to comply with knowledge of restaurant business processes and materials prior to implementation of said action in said country.
Yep, all Mericans are fat slobs.
Unlike the lithe and suave Brits...altho they say Americans outnumber these fat slobs. Population?
Now heavyweight Brits are the fattest people in Europe | Mail Online
The second picture reminds me of what happens to Thai wives after they get you to marry them, pay for two houses--one for the parents and one for you (I MEAN HER)--and fill up her bank account with all of your money.
Here is what the end game looks like:
BEWARE!
This is by far the worst sandwich I've ever had in Bangkok.
I didn't notice the unfortunate shape of the bread until a friend who I'd sent the photo to pointed it out to me. At which point I think I was sick.
^ Run over by a lorry? The whitish meat slices look like blanched cow cud.
^^
So, what end of the sandwich did you chuck your chops around first FP?
I think you've missed the worst part about the sandwich. Take another look at the picOriginally Posted by Jet Gorgon

I don't know why, but it reminds me of popcorn and cinemas...
I think that is the problem with a lot of Western restaurants in Thailand. Owners with no previous experience in the kitchen.Originally Posted by Diatonic
