Thank you Marmite the Dog for expressing the situation so eloquently.......shit fire, ya must be from Texas too......hot dam!
OK.......I recognize BBQ is as old as the Neanderthals. Point?
Many expats in Thailand learned what excellent SMOKED BBQ is back in the USA.
If they are from Texas 9a separate country not really part of the USA but legally it still is )BBQ is a mix of beef (BRISKET) and pork items (SAUSAGE, RIBS, HAM). Some BBQ places inTexas don't stop there and also serve chicken and even turkey. The sauce is normally tomato based. Potato salad and beans are almost always served.
If not from Texas, and in the USA, there are many varieties of what good BBQ is. In the Carolina's good BBQ means pulled pork and ribs w/ an odd mustard based sauce. But they don't think it is odd. That is because they are odd
In Thailand, not one person has replicated a Texas style smoked BBQ place (even though some pretend to be doing so).
I would do it myself if I could find a really good supply of beef brisket at a reasonable price....and that is the real problem. If you ask the butcher at Foodland about it, he will give you a price......if you buy a brisket and come back in one week, he has doubled the price and you say, Kiss my Ass
Also, Thai beef is horrible. Added to that is the brisket from Thai beef has almost no fat.....tasteless....disgusting. Solution? Import the good stuff. Problem: the product now becomes too expensive for most expats (remember, for those that know about smoked brisket, you lose about 50% of it in the smoking process.....good stuff but expensive).
Having said all that, I would like a good pulled pork sandwich or smoked loin sandwich......anything but Subway crap.
They serve Tofu?
Those BBQ places.
Can't beat some BBQ'd tofu.
Neanderthals didn't serve it with potato salad and beans.Originally Posted by Diatonic
Yes, but the Neanderthals didn't know what good BBQ was. Only people from Texas know that it would seem
A well known poster here who was famous for smoking and curing meats. Did sausages as well. He passed away yesterday.Originally Posted by Diatonic
