A cup of tea in Thailand

I think we can all agree that liptons yellow label tea is the absolute pits, maybe if you stuck a couple of teabags in the mug you may get something that tastes like tea.

PG tips and the other English ones seem to have hit the 400baht for a packet of 60 or is it 80?

Luckily they just started selling this Pride of Ceylon tea in Pattaya and Jomtien, pretty damn good and about 160 baht for a box of 100 so a lot cheaper than poxy liptons.

I'm rather a coffee person...but there is times when a cuppa hits the spot. Good quality tea! Be it English or the excellent teas that come out of China/Hong Kong/Taiwan. South Asians teas are preferable to some {aromatic, not harsh, etc}. I really enyjoy good solid Chinese teas.

I don't think they sell the crap in the UK, so no proce comparison possible

I bring a couple of boxes of Twinings "Breakfast" with me. You can buy it here but at extortionate prices (due to taxes?)

Ceylon tea is often excellent. I will look out for it

I use Tesco's own brand in boxes of 100, they make a pretty good cup of tea. Look for the box with the picture of a Rich Tea biscuit on it (approx 140 baht)

I get Dilmah loose leaf from the supermarket up here, a lot cheaper than those dainty, world-destroying, individually wrapped tea bags.

Yeah, but the best bit about loose leaf tea is you get to buy and play with a tea-strainer. A whole new little ritual, it's great, you should try it.

    Is this new?
I tried the Tesco tea in a red & white packet but didn't like it.

Marmite gave me some Tesco Premium Teabags to try and I'm hooked on them now.
If the "rich tea " packets are the same as Tesco Premium then I will be well happy

Whatever he says! The best tea I've had in Thailand comes from his kitchen. Being a merkin, have no clue what the brand was but well worth the 10 hour drive.

I used to but this Stassen ceylon tea from Makro

About 130 baht for 100 bags or something like that.

They do other speciality teas as well.

That was Tetleys but these Tesco Premium are even better.

Whilst on the subject of tea, there is no best brand
The trick is to find the tea which tastes best with your water.

I'm not funny on ceylon tea..that isn't a herbal tea is it?

I like Earl Grey the best. Luckily, I can find some of that over here, also imported from England.

Well I'd consider myself somewhat of a 'tea connaisseur' actually.

I found out that celyon tea is a black tea grown mostly in Sri Lanka.
