...after shopping at the new IKEA on Sukhumvit, we looked around at the numerous possibilities for lunch and stopped to eat on the ground floor: a disappointing decision as it turns out. Pata Negra is owned by the same folks who operate El Mercado restaurants and a bakery. We started off with tasty roast potatoes in a variety of sauces and a salmon tartare...the fruit (green apple and pomegranate seeds) didn't match up well with the salmon (imo). We continued with a paella Valenciana (uninteresting flavors and overcooked rice) and a seafood pasta...bland and tepid. The chorizo croquetas were nice, but not enough to encourage a return visit. We ordered tarts from their bakery for later: blah...not up to the standard of Paris Mikki, Paul or the Oriental bake shop...only large bottles of imported water were available. Hardly worth the 25 minute wait for the food to be served. Never again.
