Do you like Jap foods?
My usual haunts were Zen and Fuji where my regular set meals were around 140-160 baht, or 300-400 with gf. Closing in on two decades later my usual set + wife's meal set us back around 1500-1600, and could be my imagination but over the years the portions seem to have shrunk a bit. No problem high overheads etc.
Then I discovered Tsunami, 600 bt all you can eat and (soft) drink in 90 minutes, no extras, full Jap menu, attentive and friendly waitress service, tasty, well prepared and presented foods guaranteeing that you leave well feasted and satisfied by triff value for your hard earned baht.
In you go, sit down, waitress brings over the menu, call out the numbers for what you want and off she goes. A few minutes before you finish that lot order your next, and so on.
I'm usually full from empty by the 30 mins mark, out for a stroll, back in for round two, and by an hour eased back and watching wifey make sure they don't turn a profit on us.
Early days, not much going on...
tea and some nibbles...
my usual starter...
two types of salmon sashimi, smoked salmon rolls, and (always) two portions salmon stomach (looks dusted white), an absolute delight esp if you've never had it before; sometimes can manage a third. Must've been a problem in the kitchen, no tuna.
tender beef strips on rice, delish
ah here it is...
spicy salmon salad, not at all keeneow with the salmon, pointless really as you could simply order more...
if you're wondering why they call it Tsunami...plate of mix...
another, smaller...
and another...
and another, by this time I'm at back of seat wondering where she puts it all...
I like my tea piping hot, around 90, or you can sit there like a baby blowing on it.
Never worked out how much this lot would cost at Zen or Fuji, but it would be far more than 1500 bt.
Treat yourself, won't be sorry.
Tips:
Two branches, at the lights by Chaiyapreuk/Sukhyumvit and the other on Third Rd by Excite.
Park outside or if it's full there is loads of legal space at back.
First visit we were turned away, holiday weekend, full of Bangkokians and Koreans, didn't know to book ahead. During the week usually no problem but make a call to be safe; there are often cold callers waiting outside for a table.
Easy to over-order on your first visit, and then they reserve the right to charge you 100 bt per 100 gm; no drones watching over your shoulder but fair's fair, don't be a cnut.
