Looks suspiciously like someone's added an egg to a BLT
Is that a BELT?
Just add some HP and Roberts your fathers brother..
I have those willow pattern plates
Clearly an advocate of a 'back to basics' approach.
Although a rather high precedent was set in the first post, Chitty's effort, while lacking sophistication and ingredient variety, has earnt much admiration from the Slap camp.
A grassroots offering that garners 8.5 points out of a possible 10.
Well done, Chitty.
This thread is only a few hours old and it's already by far my favourite thread on TD. Kudos OP.
The egg sandwich is one of the most underrated, unacknowledged comestible delights known to man. I've already had one for breakfast today, but to honour this thread I just had another one for me supper.
Accompanied by a couple of slices of honey roast ham.
Ahh yes. Fozzy has taken the hallowed union of egg and ham, added them to a couple of granary slices, and thus created one of the most celebrated sandwich options on the planet.
A well-deserved 9 points awarded.
Looks like an isandwich slap
A real eggy sand....with spinach on sourdough.
Go into any sandwich shop or streetside cafe in South Yorkshire and order a B.E.S.T. Bacon egg sausage tomato sandwich on Bread cake.
Prices start at 2 quid and there is a healthy option on wholemeal for the figure conscious.
Heart of Gold and a Knob of butter.
Egg and bacon - Stoke stylee.
an egg sandwich using a runny fried egg (a hard fried egg is an inedible rubbery abomination and should never be used in anything) surely necessitates the use of a knife and fork, otherwise it is just too messy to negotiate, and therefore it cannot be classed as a sandwich.
an egg sandwich by definition, i.e. able to be eaten with the hands, can therefore only be made with a hard boiled egg.

whats the point of the egg if you are going to drown its taste in awful mayonnaise gloop.
a sprinkling of curry powder, or preferably black pepper is however perfectly acceptable
My sincere apologies sir, I was unable to find the tongue firmly in cheek smiley.Originally Posted by nidhogg

The egg should be runny. That is all about the magnificent mingling of the flavours and textures.
The lack of available pics is probably to do with southerners stealing the recipe for classic northern delicacies.
^Is that a bed or a flat roof on a four bedroom house?
Oh dear, you just don't get it do you.
Picture this. You're in a lay-by standing next to a burger van and you've just been handed a sausage and egg sandwich made with thick, uncut bread. You're wearing a white shirt and you have to be at an important meeting in 30 minutes.
You know that when you take that first bite of that sarny there's a 50/50 chance you will make it to the end without squirting a hot sticky stream of egg yolk down your chin and on to your crisp white shirt.
Right there in a nut shell is what egg sandwiches are all about.
