Never really understood gas BBQ's myself. You may as well cook it inside on a proper gas cooker and then go and sit outside with it when it's done.

I have some friends that swear by charcoal. About 10 years back a few of my buddies and I did a comparison. I did 2 NY Steaks with my Gas grill and he did 2 with the Charcoal. We got a few people to blind taste them and more people like the gas grill NY steaks Vs the Charcoal.
With that said though, one thing I have found is many do not really know how to BBQ well. There really is an art to it. I have watched far too many people incinerate a nice hunk of meat on both Gas and Charcoal. There is a searing process, a lower temp cook process and a final cook. A seasoned gas grill is simply way better, consistent and you can cook indirect for Veggies etc.
