You're in a lay-by standing next to a burger van
i rather think it is you who does not get it.

a man of my calibre would never, ever find himself standing in a lay-by next to a burger van.

^ In which case you haven't lived my friend.

Who do you think has the greater experience of life, a person who has eaten at a burger van AND 5 star restaurants, or somebody who has only ever eaten at 5 star restaurants?

It's a great shame when a man lets delusions of grandeur get in the way of his life's experiences.

Please feel free to show us the next egg sandwich you eat. Looking forward to seeing what gold plates look like.

Looks delightful for sure, but as you well know enjoying something like that doesn't for one second negate the ability to enjoy a normal egg sandwich from a burger van. And any attempt to claim it does is nothing but pure affectation and has absolutely nothing to do with the actual food or ones palate.

let's not derail this thread any further, it should be nothing but photos of egg sandwiches. Please show us what your 'superior' hard boiled version looks like next time you have one. I'm eager to see how pretend posh people live.

^ When he's posting a picture like that, which he's just cooked and is about to eat, then perhaps (and only perhaps) he would have a leg to stand on.

Until that time it will remain nothing but affectation and delusion of grandeur.

Lying face-down in a pool of your own lager puke beside one more is more like it I presume.

The heathen is you - asparagus in an eggs Benedict! Disgraceful.

Furthermore, the English muffin looks questionable and the less said about that watery, unglazed and possibly curdled goop masquerading as Hollandaise the better.

The orange wedges should be grounds for summary execution of the 'chef' who put that abomination together.

eggs benedict, like good jazz, benefits from interpretation, improvisation and riffing.

the muffin and the egg represent the rhythm section, providing the reliable backbeat to the dish, upon which a variety of soloists can impose their interpretation, represented by any number of individual ingredients that embellish the backbeat according to mood and audience.

smoked salmon, asparagus, ham, hollandaise, bacon, avocado and crab are all very welcome guest soloists.

Comparing eggs benedict with Jazz is sacrilege!

I would have compared eggs benedict to fruity pretentious vino rouge

^As much as I abhor your condiment selection, Fozzy, I must admit to being highly impressed with the quality of the cook.

^^ Thank you and Oh dear.

If that's what you think of ketchup, I can't see you being too impressed with another one of my favourite accompaniments to an egg sandwich.......

I will question the doughy white bread, though....

A nice hardier and wholesome loaf would have shown a little verve.

With this offering I bow my head in shame for several reasons:

    1) I didn't cook it

    2) It was eaten in Whetherspoons

    3) It was my children's first foray into Great British dining

I shall now flagellate myself with an electric egg whisk

Do they actually cook in 'Spoons now? Or is it all still microwaved out of the freezer.
Think even the last burger i had there was microwaved...
